Michaelkissey said:i was conned by this company but accept i was caught easily. it was a cheap way to learn to be more careful. the one thing to me that makes this a scam is that you register with e-mail account but you do not receive email to confirm what you have just entered into. this is a deliberate tactic by company to hide they have conned you.
Thanks for th heads upManxman_in_exile said:

Vehicleenquiry.uk can easily be mistaken for the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry service. You may consider the posts on Trustpilot insignificant, but surely the fact that the first question from bank fraud lines is ‘have you renewed your road tax recently?’ is an indication that there are more than a few people falling for this. I have reported this site to Trading Standards.
I must have misheard but I thought these type of sites were being outlawed...0 -
I am yet another who has fallen into this trap and lets be clear it is a trap. I thought I was being sensible by using the VL11 form and entering the Government website address on it. Clearly something went wrong and I mistakenly continued on this site. Yes I was charged £0.50 and thought that a reasonable fee for my mistake. A day later and £7.95 went out and clearly it was a monthly payment. I cancelled immediately and have instructed my bank accordingly.
I also contact DVLA directly. They are well aware of this site and are actively trying to deal with it and it's owner.1 -

Full membership is just £7.95/month". It's not even hidden away in the small print.Oldwoof said:I thought I was being sensible by using the VL11 form and entering the Government website address on it.Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending this site in any way, shape or form. But you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to realise it's got nothing to do with the DVLA or any other government agency.

I have had 3 payments taken from this lot.
The 14th of every month since February.
I have never subscribed to their service and why would anybody when you can find the information free on government website.
Called the bank got it stopped with a full refund.
Somebody gave this lot my bank details but it certainly wasn't me0 -

I would be really concerned if I was sure that I'd not provided my bank details to a company but they had started to take money from my account.
Could it have been when you were making a purchase from another company - giving your bank details - and you unknowingly subscribed to this service?
Lots of people post on this thread and refer to 'this website' but nobody has said exactly which website they were 'scammed' on.
I've asked 2 different posters in the last week to name the website but not had a response.Pollycat said:Which website are you referring to?
The OP (almost 4 years ago) did not name a website.
The 1st reply gives a website name that is still in operation.

This is still happening VEHICLEINFORMATIONUK are a scam. They managed to turn up from the DVLA website while I was renewing my road tax.
My bank knows about them and despite not being able to issue a refund they did put a halt on any payments coming from this scammers and calling them in you insist you will get a refund (and an attitude). Total waste of time and feeling like an idiot but if we don't fight this scams they will be bigger, stronger and will happen more often. They feel they are running free and we must stop them.0 -
The only way to stop these scam websites is to not use them.
That means the need to be aware when doing business on the internet.
Not just in connection with vehicle information but all companies.
I don't know how you got to the website you used but when I visited it just now this message was displayed:Didn't that ring warning bells that you were not on the official website?Vehicle Information

Perhaps you did a google search for DVLA or vehicle information or similar? If you hit Ctrl-h in your browser and go back to the day you ended up on their site, you'll find exactly what you were searching for.1 -
Deffo a scam, why else would it appear near the top of the search results and say 'pay vehicle tax online' and have a similar look as the gov website. Not everyone is savvy on a computer...1
