Scam - Vehicle Information

  • If you look at what you’re getting for £5.95, it is clear that it’s not worth the subscription at all further confirming the fact this is borderline phishing.
This is further confirmed by the fact when you complain they immediately refund you 4 months as a good will gesture.

So they state up front what they will do and for what price and they immediately give refunds when you complain? Doesn’t sound very scam-like to me. It might not be worth the money, but surely when signing up for anything it’s incumbent on the purchaser to make sure the service is actually worth paying for.

In May I went on line and paid for my car tax. The same day a deduction of 50p was taken from my account by this scam takes an initial 50p from your account, then £5.95 every month.  I am remiss as I didn’t check individual transactions.

I've been in touch with my bank but very difficult to get through to banks at this time.   The £5.95 was then taken for the next 6 months. Payments have now been stopped and a fraud investigation is taking a look at it.

The scam is by a company called Vehicle information.

Worst case – I googled “MOT date check”DVLA and another web site (Vehicle information) offered the check looking like the DVLA . I opened what looked like the DVLA MOT check. I gave no card /payment details.None required.

The only time I gave card details was to the actual DVLA on the same day to pay for my MOT which is now in place( on my account as separate transaction). So a second line of enquiry is whether there is a scam link between the company and the DVLA. I know the DVLA have defended but haven’t answered this question- but it is worth a real investigation- how many are having £6.95 a month taken from their account each month- a small amount- in Covid ,when you can’t talk to banks easily. I could call them names but I don’t want the posting taken down.

Beware of those who defend this company.

As highlighted, I've never paid the DVLA for my MOT? It's always the garage.

    Likewise for all
  • This evening, I signed in by mistake and sent a cancellation email about 2 hours later requesting money back.
Is this covered by distance selling regulations?.
How do I stop future payments from my card?
    Thanks.,

This is the postal scam that they are now using. Note that it stated V11 on the top right hand corner. Vehicle tax reminder and the various options of paying for your car tax - it even has a .gov website address to log on with and it says vehicle and driver licensing agency complete with a post office bar code.

I went through the steps to pay £30 car tax only for it to flash up on the screen that I am in a 50p trial (that I had no way of getting out of) I emailed them right away to say that I did not consent so they made sure that they stole another £5.95 off of me the following day, and of course I got nothing for the luxury of them stealing my money (no vehicle updates I mean)They emailed that they are a vehicle reminder service and have nothing to do with car tax - funny that really considering they sent a letter claiming to be ALL about car tax posing as the dvla. Also it comes out of your bank as vehicle enquiry so they then claim this is not them as they are vehicle services! Their names will change on letters, emails and what shows on bank statements to keep the scam going.

Also, be aware that all positive reviews on any site are by the scammers themselves. I sent them a photo of the 81% of people that have given negative feedback and state that they are a scam but they ignore it.

Did you mis-type the web URL? That's the correct one - and that's a correct document.

Perhaps reposting again? That is the correct DVLA document. :D

That is not the correct dvla document - the correct one is blue and white and note that the one that I posted says ‘vehicle services’ in the bottom right hand corner. It just shows that you would have all been scammed too. My bank looked up who had taken the money and vehicle services and I can assure you that they have nothing to do with the dvla.
    Sorry HonestKate, but you're wrong.
The document you've posted is genuine.
The official V11 form is green and has "Vehicle Services" in the bottom right of the form.  That's exactly the same as the V11 that I received.
By the way, you've obscured the vehicle registration at the top right but not the one at the bottom left.
  • @honestKate, despite your protestations, the URL is the correct one for taxing a car as is the phone number.

It is the correct document - my thoughts are that you mistyped the url somehow and reached a non-gov.uk site and didn't notice, or put it in to google search and then clicked the first link (which happened to be an advert).

I'm confused, the document refers you to  gov.uk/vehicle-tax, and that is the correct website or am I missing something?
