problem is family is working from home and need broadband connection etc, and we have kids going manic
Which circuit is the router plugged into? Almost certainly the single ring main.
Which circuit would the washing machine be plugged into? Quite probably a spur off the ring main... (I'm assuming there's no breaker labelled "garage")0 -
Blimey OP, how do you even manage to survive day to day stuff?
Tripping individual fuses is a waste of your time unless you trip them all, at which point you might as well just go for the main breaker. You'll need 30 seconds at most to switch the main breaker off and then go and listen out for the washing machine. If it's still going then it's obviously not your supply that it's running from.1 -
I wonder how many people are going to have to issue instructions before the OP gets what it is he is being advised to do? Sounds like he is going round his house switching off individual appliances.....
Pal, gonnae no dae that. You need to switch off the entire electrical supply to your house and then find out what happens with any appliances you can hear working in the garage below.
You switch off your entire household supply at the consumer unit / meter. Do not waste time with individual switches either there or anywhere else in your house. Pull the main switch that brings in the power to OFF. If the washing machine stops, then bingo, you have switched off his supply. If not, then it has nothing to do with you, so you can get on with your life. And the rest of us can get on with ours4 -
I’d get to the bottom of it ASAP it’s going to keep costing you if you don’t have the right people on your side.0
