Had an ok day at work yesterday, included a nice email exchange with a colleague. DD1 did a big shop at Mr T. Went for a long walk with DDs after work. DD2 cooked tea while I did an exercise class followed by a relaxation session. DDs and i watched our latest TV series. Then i unblocked the bathroom sink! Caught up on some of my PT job.
Gratitudes for yesterday - DD1 going shopping and paying for it too; DD2 cooking a new recipe for tea; lovely relaxation session after exercise class; that i know how to unblock my sink
Hope everyone has a good day

Stayed up quite late (was in pain the night before so it took a while for the pain to ease off enough to get to sleep and then 'rested' a lot yesterday), didn't do another SM order but amended the one to be delivered on Saturday evening (33 items out of 80 replaced) as some are on the Icyland delivery (so my guesstimate 3 weeks ago was fairly accurate). Was able to add the meat items mum mentioned (I've got into the big joint only for Easter and that other thing we don't talk about). Seeing as there is still one portion of sliced turkey in mum's freezer from December this generally works well (and suits my budget). Mum can afford the meat (but hasn't quite adjusted her mindset - she asked for brisket and I'm wondering if I have to 'press' it after cooking) but it's the sort of thing she's been given to eat at other people's houses or when she was taken out for 'pub meals' and 'carveries (or when we are on holiday). So it's a small replacement for those 'luxuries' (things she wouldn't dare to attempt cooking herself).
She and her daily caller talk about the things they have planned for the day - jogging, sailing on the local 'flash', going on a cruise - I suggested telling me which ports we will be calling at and I will provide 'local cuisine' to match. Maybe an idea for later when I have things 'under control' (running like clockwork). In reality, mum hasn't been outside the house for weeks and her friend falls over if he gets out of his wheelchair (he's taking me dancing).
After taking out the duplicates I was able to add small quantities of otc medicines, antiseptic cream, soap (gave my stored ones to mummy of twins and the foodbank), and the wooden nail brush I wanted (mum only had one plastic one and it was in the kitchen). I do miss the 3 for £1 ibruprofen which I could get any time I went past the £ emporium after a quick glance to make sure there was no queue. However this is the new reality and likely to be so for quite some time so I will adjust. Going to start building a 'master list' for food, cleaning, medicines and toiletries with subsections for each shop - have picked some items up in shops I wouldn't normally use for those things so if I have a note I can remember to check. I am not hoarding, I am still abiding by my original rule of buying only those items which are plentiful. I haven't bought flour because I still have some, for now and I need to use the available storage wisely. When I have my lists I will start working on appropriate stock levels (noticed the empty box where the wheat biscuits had been and things I don't use like denture tablets).
So today I won't be 'seizing the day'. I will try to sneak up on it (on my hands and knees if necessary) and nibble it round the edges (or at least give it a painful suck).
Today I am grateful for my polytunnel, time to reflect on how I see my life going forward (limitations/ alternatives/ what I want more of), tales of toddler antics (boy who woke his mum up because he was awake and the sun was awake has switched to not getting out of his pyjamas or putting them back on part way through the day), for kindness and for making progress although the side of the house is very messy (where I bring things in and setting up 'grow containers from the polytunnel working back towards the gate
and need everything heavy to be as near to where I want it before doing the manual lifting).

Another beautiful sunny day. As I can't go further than the communal back area I've been sitting looking out of the window a lot and it seems that there are many. many more people about since lock down began. It might be that they are shopping, taking exercise, etc but I wonder. Some of the groups of four or five people that I've seen are clearly not living within the same household and I'm almost sure that there are people having visitors. I'm not trying to be judgemental but do you think we're beginning to see more lock down fatigue?
I'm glad you got a food delivery organised, Mothernerd. I've got one for Thursday to top up milk, etc. I think I'm starting to get the hang of not over ordering. At the moment I'm trying to use up lots of surplus veg. Many soups and casseroles. Hopefully, I'll start getting the food budget under control a wee bit as well.
We've spent the last few days catching up with friends and family by phone and email. I was thinking it might be nice to start writing letters again. I used to love writing and getting letters through the post. It's exciting getting a hand written envelope through the letter box. I'm a simple, old fashioned sort of person at heart.
So today I'm grateful for:
The delivery man bringing me more seeds (running out of space on the porch. Might have to ask next door if I can use theirs)
Himself being a bit more like himself. He seems much more content.
Finding another three books for Himself's birthday
Finding £90 worth of Amazon vouchers that we had forgotten we had
And then remembering I've got £60 worth of M & S vouchers as well (No idea what we're going to use them for.)Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
Hi everyone
Had a good day doing FT job; had 2 phone calls - so lovely to talk to colleagues
Made myself a healthy lunch which i ate outside while chatting to DD1.
Agree Toni'sfriend - letters are lovely; i write to my sister on a regular basis and trying to write more often at the moment - she lives in a care home due to complex physical and mental health needs although she's only in her early 50s - she hasn't seen her daughter for about 2 months.
I have a virtual meeting tonight for my PT job; hoping it won't go on too long so can go out for a walk afterwards.
Gratitudes - chats with colleagues; sitting with DD1 in the sunshine; DDs going for a walk together; bonding with colleagues over our love of pets - & sharing photos of our 4 legged friends

Evening all,
Slight problem today, car has truly given up the ghost so I'm now faced with the unusual conundrum of needing to try and find a replacement in this current situation. It'll cost in the region of about £800 to fix and the car is only worth £1000 so it doesn't make sense to do the work as I was going to replace it soon anyway. The timing is rubbish though. I am a key worker who needs to do home visits although able to wfh quite a lot, so it's not something I can leave. My plan was to buy a car this year anyway so I have some of the money but not as much as I'd like, so need to get my thinking cap on. In the grand scheme of things it's not the end of the world.
Today I've finished painting my bathroom door and done lots of jobs round the house. Carried on with my book and watched some TV.
Am grateful for my health, finding strategies to manage my back pain, a nice walk this morning, good weather and yummy protein bars.7
