Both my sons if I don’t insist I will find breakfast, lunch and dinner plate all in the lounge! When I point it out they always look surprised that the plates are still there! Xx

    Hello ladies
Hope your week has been progressing well?
I have managed to move £3500 into building fund bringing total to £70600. I have also decided not to have all the money for the building fund in one bank just so as not to have all eggs in one basket so moved £20k to a different savings account to where I transferred the £3500 so have £47100 in one bank and £23500 in another.
Month end is round the corner, yey! Xx

Always as well to have another account ready anyway for when you go over £85k & you don't have far to go.
  • Congratulations on another milestone @Sistergold. Moving the money was a wise move.

    Noise pollution in paradise
Good morning ladies. I have been up early and this has been happening quite frequently for past 2 years now. Anytime from 3am to 7am there can be helicopter(s) flying in my neighbourhood. Last month when we were at the birthday party one of my neighbours said there has been a few discoveries of houses which have been turned into cannabis growing houses 🥸🧐 So the helicopters are monitoring for that( thermal scanning). I am a light sleeper and the helicopters wake me up each time and it can be as bad as every morning. The flying around does not last more than an hour each flight but it can be several sporadic episodes and can be a nuisance!

I am also about 300 yards from the train station and I can hear faint whooshing sound when the train makes its journey.
I guess one needs to stay out in the sticks for peace and quiet? Or out in the sticks will the silence wake me up? Our train line is London overground and it’s every 30 minutes. Most of the time I don’t even notice the train whooshing away. The train noise is not too bad and the helicopters I guess will carry on until the police think the cannabis issues is under control.

Having said all that it’s not enough to make me regret buying in this area it’s very quiet in general, almost too quiet sometimes! When I need the train it’s a 5 minute slow walk which is convenient!

on the finances only a few days to go till end of month £100 left hopefully that should be enough!

    It’s Friday! Xx

  • @Sistergold, I live 'out in the sticks' an hour from the nearest mainline station or motorway junction and we still have Police raids for cannabis farms, 3 have been found in close proximity to each other over the last few years, all with £1m+ worth!  Oh and the birds wake you up early in the morning here!  Having said that I love it, I love visiting London but I don't think I could cope with all of the hustle and bustle every day.

@Me_v_The_Mortgage_Mountain, where  I am before these helicopters it was mainly the birds waking me up. I am not “out in the sticks” but as it’s a conservation area we are like “houses in a forest” -well not exactly- but we have so many trees and so we do have so much wild life I thought I had nailed it for quietness! Looks like the cannabis farming is a problem for all of us sticks or not. Yes London can be too hectic sometimes, just thought nothing much will be happening in zone 5 but looks like it’s still London enough! XX

  • Hi all.
The street I live in is colloquially referred to as 'lively'. But it was what I could afford at the time and I have high hopes for Boris's levelling up fund.
So... mortgage day on Monday which is quite exciting, I never thought that would be a highlight of the month! I've just done my post payday budget for the month and with this month's Christmas shopping allocation I'm left with £24. Let's see if I can stick to it!?!
@Sistergold I'm curious about Monzo? I looked it up after I saw it on your post and I'm wondering if I could use this to manage my sundry monthly outgoings?
Re job: All my pre employment forms have gone in and I've had nothing back from occupational health so, so far so good on that and I'm trying very hard not to check the progress of my dbs 3 times a day. Looks like I'll be paying 7% ish into a local government pension so that's a bit of a dent in my pay increase/mortgage overpayment plans but it looks like it's a really good scheme so I'll just have to adjust.
So taking that into account I'm currently 55 months from mortgage freedom, if I can stay on track! xx

@Felicityfandangle, I have had Monzo for a while now and it’s been good to run as an everyday account. Very easy to run as you can create many pots in the account so for instance I have an eating out pot, petty cash pot, dipping pot, Christmas pot, birthday pot etc and once I pay for say birthday present using Monzo current account I just refund current account from birthday pot at the click of a button.
Wow 55months to get to mortgage freedom! I still have 240 months to go 🥵. Pension fund sounds good too! Xx
