Hello ladies
I since received my yearly mortgage statement for last financial year. It was nice to note that I had paid over £50k towards the mortgage. Of this £50k about £7k was towards interest.The statement also had little, regular overpayments which seemed to have quickly added up and contributed to this total mortgage payments. It was really nice to note that I managed to overpay quite a bit. If I can keep this up I will be able to put a big dent into this mortgage very soon.Let’s all keep up with the OP they do add up pretty quickly! My probation was done yesterday, it was much more positive than I thought
Still no completion date for my house?? I would have thought the seller wanted it ASAP. They have their own home elsewhere so it's not a chain. People were right when they said solicitors take ages... I'm just concerned they want to complete soon and I still need to give 28 days notice on my private let so it's a bit annoying, and I have annual leave booked in 4 weeks and I can't change it because other colleagues are on holiday so I would have preferred to complete then.... Oh well. Just gotta see it as time to save more!!
How long did it take for you all from offer to completion? Maybe I'm being unreasonable to think it would be quick? My friend also bought here in Scotland and it was 3 weeks from offer to mortgage to completion?!Single woman doing it on my own... First house bought June 2021!
Mortgage end date: 2041. Goal: Anything less!
Mortgage currently paid off: 4%2 -
@MissMoneyManager thank you
@JennyJukes, that’s great news that your probation was done at least that removes the slight worry of when and what? The house buying process does on average take long but sometimes it is so fast I wonder if it’s real! Like in your friends case 3 weeks well that’s really at lightning speed! I have never been that lucky with house purchase, it took me from 2nd week February to 1st week of July to complete. There was a long chain though and I was at the bottom of the chain as I was not selling anything for the move. If your friend took as little as 3 weeks then maybe it might not take you too long hopefully! Good luck! XxInitial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
