SLLM (Single Lady Large Mortgage)

Hello laddies
I must say it has been difficult to keep the reports and updates going with the lockdowns and restrictions and tier systems! This year has been different for all of us for sure but it’s good to know that we have all been able to keep up and continue making overpayments where we can. One good thing is I have managed to take time and refocus on what is important and what has become obvious is one needs to save as much as they can and have as few if any debts at all.Savings went well I think although could have started earlier but better late than never I guess? Overpayment also went well I think. This will be a good time to think of new year resolutions I guess especially financial resolutions.
1. Save £20k towards building fund in 2021
2. Pay off 5% of original mortgage which is £24375. This will include capital repayments plus OPs.3. Drastically continue to declutter as less is good.
4. Spend less and not shop unnecessarily
Resolution on a personal level
I want to lose weight and also exercise more than this year.I would like to decorate the house a bit and also rest more from work.On another note I am happy to announce that the extension plans were approved. The approval went without a hitch which was really impressive being in a conservation area. So it was nice to have that issue concluded in this year so now I will see when I would like to start with the extension if I don’t use the money in another area. I am keeping all funds until covid is truly out of the way as life has now shown that you really need a good emergency fund in place.I hope all you ladies are okay?Stay strong and of good cheer everyone! 🥰Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Making great progress @Sistergold - I love the rounding down on the balance!
I like your resolutions too; I think it's good to have goals to focus on. I haven't specifically got many, but I'd suggest mine are something like:
1. Complete downstairs remodel on budget
2. Continue steady OP's of a minimum of £150 per month
3. Run a sub 30 minute 5km
4. Read 20 books2 -

Reflections for today
I am off today! Yey! Well I finally braced myself for the cold weather and went into the garage(the easily forgotten place) where I need to sort out the freezer. It’s amazing how we can buy more and more stuff of what we have already but in the true spirit of a MFW/SLLM I am reigning in and stopping myself from all those unnecessary spends. Anyway I have truly decided I will cope with my chest freezer and not “stoop down and succumb” to the idea that I should buy an upright freezer which is easier to organise etc! Really the truth is I should not really be needing to freeze so much staff which end up just not being used sitting in the freezer as it’s really not convenient to get food from the garage! The chest freezer I have is small and really I am going to make sure I manage with that until it breaks down which might take years as it’s only about 3/4yrs old!Well in the garage I also saw some unblocking tools I bought from Amazon and I thought it will be nice to make a list of things I have found useful for certain sticky situations as a single lady. So please ladies let’s come up with tools which can really come handy when all shops are closed and you just need to sort something out! Here goes for me
1. toilet and drain tools, like plunger 🪠, and all that helps with a blocked toilet , also be able to unblock sink or bath tub!
2. Good set of screwdrivers for when an electrical gadget or something needs tightening, opening or assembling in the night! Nothing worse than wanting to get something started and everything is out of packing and hey no screw driver!3. A foot stool or small ladder for me as I am of average height! Sometimes I just need that height to fix something “up there!”
What else do you think!Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

A good torch/battery powered lamp, preferably one that can stand independently. Kept in a place you can find it in the pitch dark. The power never goes out at lunch time but always after dark.
