I am so sorry to hear about your mum and so glad the antibiotics worked. You want her 90s to be chilled and fabulous, full of love and not discomfort so pleased it all went well.
I have been eating a huge amount of kale and spinach at each meal as it is brilliant to support the liver function which of course affects the blood cells due to seeing various family members struggle with diabetes and blood flow etc. Luckily if you fry it it all shrinks down (the kale!) I have a feeling you are a dr or consultant? I dont know why I think that ... but if so that was probably a comfort as well going thru such a scary time.
I have a lovely old work colleague - he was very successful as in head of a very large famous corp and he struggled on off with a wound that wouldnt heal in his late 70s but eventually he did have to have the foot amputated last year - however amazingly he is now on his second lot of prosthetics - trying to get it more comfy, his spirit has been undimmed - it has been incredible to see - I am sure I would have curled up in a ball and wept but he has really had such an impressive attitude its been a gift to watch. Life is precious.
i will put her in my prayers.
I am away in the states - took an extended vacay after a work trip so currently by the pool in a multi milliondollar mansion at a friends.. Flying back tonight and the time away to think has made me realise I need to get moving properly with the flat buying - saw a couple places I liked a few weeks ago - neither quite right - but am finally convinced to bite the bullet and get this mortgage and OP situation sorted so I will be mortgage/house searching next week along with getting a new client to help make me feel more secure on the bills as I am SEDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oh thank you @LadyWithAPlan for the help with prayers, as that’s all we can do besides managing her meds. Lucky you being on holiday in the states. How does it feel every time you land back in England? So different our houses and theirs?
It’s good that you are consciously making changes to your diet as diabetes and blood pressure and the resultant blood flow issues is such on an increase. So impressive about your work college who lost a foot and has really taken it in his strides! Some people can really stylus positive.Oh you know I can not wait for you to find your flat/house!Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

@LeighofMar, thank you for your concern. Yes what your grandfather faced was exactly what my mom was facing, amputation from knee down and both legs. I did feel oh why when she is on the last leg of her life? It’s too much at that age and also other vascular procedures would have been dangerous at her age to try and save the legs. Before any of the procedures imaging would have needed to be done which would have probably caused kidney failure so yet another complication.Yes she is now able to move and she is of high spirit.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Glad the antibiotics worked and your mum is on the mend, sounds like a pretty scary time all around.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056
Current mortgage amount: £226,957.97

@LeighofMar so sorry to hear this - the human spirit though seems indomitable at times
@Sistergold yes I feel much better eating so many greens - a full half plate at least once a day - a cousin recently died of complications of diabetes inc blood poisoning and lost his leg just before so I have every reason to make sure my nutrition is full of greens and good proteins.
I still do eat occasional sweets and crisps but as I have to be GF I don’t eat a lot of bread Cakes etc
I was just staying in a serious house - think one of the ‘housewives of …’ tv series size with heated pool jacuzzi etc
the kitchen area was 2/3rds the size of my london flat ! So beautiful - marble every where even in my guest house showerOf course there is also the attendant 3 x week housekeeper and gardener plus 2 x a week pool man alongside all the gate technicians, av guys and the massseuse .. the upkeep costs are almost impressive as the mansion
hopefully you can be at peace now your mum is in high spirits .., I learn a lot from your mortgage statements never having had one!Just at airport now and ready to come back to london and start the ‘extra client’ ‘declutter’ house find etc - feeling motivatedDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Hello ladies. I have not been updating my mortgage on here for a few months. Have been making very little progress due to the increase in interests rates. Hope you have all been doing well and hope you are all overpaying better than I have been managing past few months. Well progress is progress I guess no matter how little? On the mortgage front balance in October wasNovember balance after paymentMy mortgage balance is now below £270ks! 🎂🎉🥳💃🏾 I feel I can celebrate this as even after the end of this month when they add their interest it will go up but it will not go back to being over £270k yey!Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
