Just wanted to post previous interest added for easy comparison with current new interest figures. Well, hopefully fingers crossed there will not be another rate rise too soon. Life has surely become that much more expensive!

Thanks @Friday1989, sometimes I wish I could just not check on the mortgage for a good 12 months so that I can appreciate how it’s going down. Unfortunately I do check every month and it feels rather slow! It can feel a bit discouraging when you sacrifice so much and it seems to go down rather slow. Xx

  • Good Morning @Sistergold and everyone else,

I've been away from MSE and the threads since new year as I had some personal stuff I needed to sort out with the space to do it.

Its nice to see everyone is doing well on their own paths. Mine has taken a different turn, I very much want to be able to call myself a mortgage free wannabee, live in the property that I own etc but this is not an option at the moment and I needed to park this dream for now. I hope everyone understands what I mean as my health was suffering and I needed to get off the train for a bit. I have still made some baby steps forward. I have been carrying some debt from when I seperated in 2018 that is now only 4 payments away from finishing. This is a big personal milestone as I will then be debt free. Most of my savings are now in S&S ISA and its being pummelled. I have reduced my risk level so hopefully this helps. My tenant is happy and we are coming upto 1 year milestone which again is a big personal achievement and am nearing my 2 year divorce anniversary and I must say its not something I really think about so all in all not doing too bad. Am not the best for patting on the back but trying to get better so wanted to share. After the debt is paid off and i've got through this year with all the tough increases in everything I hope I will have a small deposit for a second BTL. But in all honesty, am not focused on this as much as I was at Christmas. I'll pop in now and again and wish you all well but this is a kind of goodbye.

good morning @Queen_of_the_Hive. Sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well but glad to know that you have had time to try and sort it out. You are doing well that you are clearing debt and just sorting out finances in general in readiness for a possible second buy to let. Don’t stress about getting a house for you to live in for now as to be honest the buy to let’s is still your house at the end of the day!
Do pop in here and there as we will surely miss you! I am sure everything will sort itself out. Xx

@Queen_of_the_Hive Life has many domains; money is only one of them. It's no good if finances are good but at the expense of happiness, health, relationships, fulfilment etc. It sounds like you are prioritising what matters most, YOU!

I've been thinking about this a lot recently. I'm doing well with money and achieving in my career but I don't know what I want in life. I've been so focused on getting my career sorted and buying a flat that now I am a bit lost. I've always been so focused on whatever goal I've had and now I don't really have any 😕 My relationship domain could do to be better. I have lots of friends but don't feel as close to friends as others seem to be. I also don't really have hobbies.

@Friday1989, was just thinking of hobbies myself this afternoon! With the lockdowns I can not say I still have a hobby. Was just thinking that I need to review that and start doing something I enjoy over summer and hopefully keep it up. Used to love reading thick novels, need to start that again, long walks and I need to take up gardening as a hobby as it will help me relax and tone up.
Other hobbies I think I can enjoy are stargazing, sewing, embroidery, knitting, baking maybe learn to paint?

    Hello ladies
Hope all is well with you, your houses and your mortgages? We are all fine on my end with a bit of confused weather where the sun is shining but it’s also drizzling.

Money wise trying to tighten and changes so far have been that I don’t order takeaway food as much as before and have not gone back to eating out as much as pre-covid anyway. Other than that I am more like an ostrich whose head is buried in the sand for now as I don’t want to worry too much about the ever increasing bills. Luckily Mr X is back to work and I think he said he got something for about 5months so I guess I will get child support for next 4 months or less who knows? 😏 I am also not trying to think about the child support coming or not. He sent me money beginning of this month so that was good, trying to be thankful for every little thing that I get for now. 👏🏾

I have managed to add more money into the building fund so it’s up from £77k to £80k now🥳. I know I am saying it’s the building fund but to be honest with all the scaremongering about rates going so far south I might end up using it to cover escalating mortgage payments if ever that became necessary. I am also acutely aware that my planning permission expires December 2023 so will need to start the build before then or will I let it expire until the world is more settled and start again? 🤷‍♀️ For now I can not even start to engage a builder with all the shortages and rocketing prices so will review next year. 🙇🏽‍♀️🥺I reckon it will be worthwhile to just start some part of the planned build/extension and prevent it from expiring? Will most likely do the kitchen extension first. For now I will leave it until it’s about to expire maybe we will be clearer with where the world is going by then?

Health wise I have managed to lose a bit of weight and it has helped resolve some ongoing knee pain I have been having in both knees. I am hoping to keep the weight loss going but I must say it’s with some difficulty as it seems my body always wants to revert back to its previous set point. I guess I need to persevere and creat a new lower set point? My excuse for being over weight is that after 4 children what chance do I have, also age! Well no excuse is good enough really, losing weight is just hard.
Oh now it’s getting sunnier! 🌺💐🌞

    Morning folks,

Yep lovely and sunny here today, I haven't needed the heating on.  I still haven't got details of what my energy is increasing to but luckily I get my pay rise from 1st April so that will help towards that.  This month is this first I've been able to actually save (minus my regular overpayments) since Christmas.  My boyfriend has been getting me into crypto, he has quite a lot in there but I'm a bit more risk averse and just adding to it slowly.... does anyone else invest?  I'm usually risk averse but with the low savings rates it makes sense..

We were due back to our offices now restrictions have lifted in Scotland but alas our office lease expired so we don't even have an office!  All our other offices are being refurbished to make them more accessible and flexible so they aren't back in either so at least we're still in the same boat. To be honest most of my colleagues want to work mostly from home going forward anyway. Glad I haven't bought a new car since I sold mine in October, especially not with the fuel prices increasing!  Honestly I'm starting to feel that I may not want a car ever again, I have everything I need within walking distance and I will only travel into the office 2 times a week so..
Single woman doing it on my own... First house bought June 2021!
Mortgage end date: 2041. Goal: Anything less!
    Mortgage currently paid off: 4%

Good morning @JennyJukes, congratulations on the pay rise and savings. With the fuel costs now will be a good time to not have a car if you can do without. I can not work much from home so need a car always. It will be nice to work in refurbished offices after working from home. Crypto is not something I have considered getting into, I am probably too old fashioned.
