  • Does anyone who has redeemed lightspeed points for Paypal know how long it takes? I redeemed some points a week ago, got an email confirmation but nothing has gone into paypal yet.

It usually takes a couple of days, so it may be worth chasing them up for that one.
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

Hi, I'm up for this too, 'cos I love Christmas, but hate the debt!!!

Historically I've been a last minute shopper, but always loved that 5pm on a Christmas Eve when my purse is closed at least until February!!

Been Thinking though that I might open another account.. with cash back of course .. and earn interest for next year!..
then thought why have savings and still paying off debt?? I'll get my head around this soon... I hope!
  • :hello: hi pippo,

Ii think its ok to havesavings when youre still paying off debt, long term youre savings may prevent more debt.
I have alot of debt, but am still saving for various things- family holiday, christmas 2008 etc.

Hope this helps you work it out a bit?

  • Kick me!! I've just ordered our new wardrobes (we've been waiting for these to come in stock for months). I went through a cashback site, but instead of using the cashback maximser and earning 6%, I did it myself, and only earnt 3%. Never mind, I got 10% off them too and used some of my cahsback I've built up, so in total got about £130 off them. I've also had a hunt round the net to find out which cashback sites I'm registered with, and realised that I've lost a mnin fortune this year by not using cashback sites, since I've done a big load of shopping on ebay. We learn. I've also check every MS site for assignments, but I'm going to start this up seriously again in the new year.
  • I've been doing competitions for about 6 months & haven't won a thing but in the post today I received some biotherm spa serum, my first win! So this will be going into my pressie cupboard for xmas 2008 :j

Hello fellow "Christmas for free in 2008" we have a similar thing going on on the Christmas & Special Occasions board! We're hoping to get all "Gifts free" - birthday, xmas, anniversary, wedding, bar mitzvah, graduation you name it!

Just thought I'd say hi and best of luck to you all and hope that we can all be supportive in this to one another regardless of thread/forum!!! :D

    Merry Christmas for this year!!

  • sweetpea03 - Congratulations! maybe this is the start of more wins to come!

jamtart6 - Hi! :santa2: Waves across to Christmas & Special Occasions board. I will maybe pop over there and steal your ideas :) Merry Christmas to you too and good luck in getting all your gifts for free!

evanesco - KICK! Though i didn't know about the cashback maximiser until today either!

My Lightspeed money finally went into Paypal so I have a whole...wait for it...£3 of cash towards my Christmas total! Also did well with Boots points today using baby club vouhers so I now have £12.40 in Boots points with another £4.70 to be added from Boots.com if I ever find a working advantage card machine in the North east!!
Also got a free box of handcrafted Christmas cards from the Book people today for ordering over £45 (and most of the stuff wasn't even ordered by me - I just did the order for some family members) and some of them are gorgeous! Got enough cards for this year so they will go away for next year for family and friends.

Haha, I've just come to check out the DFW competition ;) only kidding of course!! I am mainly relying on my £125 Boots points ammassed (sp!) this year to pay for next years gifts. But needless to say we always have to spend actual cash, and this year since September I have re-couped a whopping 66% (altho was aiming for 75%) of my total xmas spend (which is over £500!!) by selling on eBay. Never even thought I'd get half way (nor did I think I'd spend £500 so I'm glad I challenged myself!) Some people managed to earn 100% back by just de-cluttering. All items I sold went for £3 average, and all under £10 - so it can be done!!!
