I'm not an ice cream fan but the idea of something cold would go down well. It's still baking hot here. ☹️

    Evening all,
Have recently come in from sitting in the cooler air in the garden, and it was so nice.  I was rather glad to have to go into work at just after 1pm to benefit from the aircon to be honest.

Have had a bit of a set-back CV19 day today.... just when I'd thought last weekend that I might have seen the back of most of them.  So I had to make alternative arrangements for dinner tonight as I was feeling nauseous.

    B - wm bagel (6) with cinnamon & spread (2)
L - LO mixed salad, with chicken thigh.  Forgot the dressing so no syns
D - was meant to be sweet & sour chicken with noodles, but did that for OH and I had a bowl of cereal later - mini shredded wheat (6) with milk from HEA1 and rest of it in tea/coffees.

Feeling very tired today, which is another bit of CV19 I had hoped has passed.  Never mind, I have more good than bad days now.
Hope you all manage to find a cool spot, and a bit jealous of  your rain Beanie.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

Morning all, yet another person moaning that it's too hot.  Really wasn't comfortable last night - couldn't actually get my wedding ring on this morning because my hands are so swollen.  I was saying to DH that i can handle the heat in Florida when it's been 36-40 for days on end but I can't handle it here.  Think it's the lack of air conditioned places to hang out in.

Don't be too hard on yourself Mrs_R, I can't imagine how hard it is at the moment and you're going to have good and bad days.  Just make sure you're looking after yourself.

Manged to get a HIIT workout in this morning before it got too hot but now I'm feeling quite tired and still have a full workday to get through.  Might have to have my coffee a bit earlier this morning.

B - Bran flakes (HEB), skimmed milk (1/2 HEA)
L - Herby pork balls with carrot and cucumber salad
D - Morrison's melt in the middle fish cake (2 syns), broccoli, green beans, asparagus

  • Mrs R, don't be hard on yourself, it is early days since losing your dad and you have not had the time to begin to process what has happened. You had the happiest day of your life, which you should still be enjoying, followed rapidly by the worst day and then to add insult, we have been hit with this dreadful disease, it is no wonder you're unable to deal with things, there are far too many things happening. We all go through trigger days during the first year, these are the first times since losing someone loved, birthday, father's/mother's day, wedding anniversary, Christmas etc. You may not be consciously aware that they are the cause of your depth of feeling on the day, but they are. You said it yourself, it is 6 months next week, this is a trigger day to you, so do something special that day to remember him, even if it is only to have a coffee out, that is your moment with your dad, enjoy it, don't feel guilty as it will give you the strength to carry on.

Tried the barley with Greek yoghurt & fruit from the Slimmingeats site this morning, enjoyed it, very filling and no HE!
A smile costs little but creates much :)

I'll add my moans to all the others. It's ridiculously hot here too ruby. I'm used to this in Turkey but there I'd be out on a boat and swimming in the sea to cool off. At least I can dream.🙂

I think, if you can, klew it's a good idea to not go right up to the maximum with syns as then you've got some leeway if you've had to estimate anything. Definitely don't try to cut out syns to lose weight because that won't work in the longer term as you're likely to get bored and give up. Generally, I'd say use them all (if you want to, don't eat for the sake of it) and then if you did hit a plateau closer to target you could always cut back a bit to get things moving again. All personal opinions of course. Most of us have found ways of making SW work for us whereas consultants have to toe the party line.  Personally I use a syn bank of 105 syns a week and keep most of them for weekends while other people prefer a daily synful treat.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F) bacon and fried eggs (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L- ham (P), fried veg and pickles (S)
D- baked salmon (P), SW chips (F), carrots, broccoli, runner beans,  mushrooms, tomatoes (S)
    Syns- none planned

I agree with maman klew, I use a syn bank and even have an app on my phone that helps me track how many i've had and how many I have left as I'm not an official SW member.

We've hit 33 degrees here - I've almost finished my second litre of water today and still feel dehydrated.  Didn't even really want to eat lunch but forced it down anyway just so I don't pass out from hunger.  Hope you're all managing to stay cool.
