I do like a BLT myself as well actually....LaMon said:
Ha, ha, ha, "don't use interest-free deals or limit increases" I have a BLT Mortgage and a current account in the same place. Integrity and truth are things rarely found nowadays. I like to deal with people who do as they say. Funny that. And it will be them apologising to me for adding additional and unnecessary stress in these mad times.jonesMUFCforever said:
Ha Ha I did not mean Barclaycard recognising the OP from here.wizzywig27 said:
lol, because so many Barclaycard staff come on here, and even if they did, somehow closing his account (as you implied) is near enough impossible based on a couple of comments on a forum!jonesMUFCforever said:I would like to add to above posts - if you wish to remain a Barclaycard customer now and in the future I would tone down your comments.
No credit card company had come up with any kind of plan about how to deal with the lockdown by the date you phoned them.
I meant any future interest free deals or limit increases may disappear with the ultimate sanction of getting the letter stating 'We believe that our customer/banking relationship has irrevocably broken down etc' - in other words pay off what you owe then go to somebody else.
Unnecessary stress? Mad times?
Then how about just letting it go and moving in in life, given these “mad times” at present....

Seems to me like OP is just after compo in these “mad times”
And as true as many other MSE’ers say - where’s your backup/emergency fund to pay for bills in uncertain “mad times”0 -

My 30th of March bill was 2.2k. But then on the 23rd of March, we were told it's a lockdown. I am a self-employed driving instructor and obviously can't work. Knowing what was going on, on the 21st of March I called Barclaycard to ask them if they would be able to allow me to just pay the minimum payment due and not charge me interest on the balance.
If the statement and the interest charge was produced and calculated on the 30th March- how did you manage to call them on the 21st March- interest is calculated daily and surely they can't refund you something which wasn't yet 'invoiced'? I would've thought that rather than ask for a refund on your interest that month you would have been better off asking if they would consider an Interest free/ low interest period going forward for 3 months as unless you can clear your balance you'll keep getting the £35 interest added on to your balance.0 -
See if you can get a balance transfer card, then 0 interest until (hopefully) you're back working again / you get assistance from the government?

Take the £35 hit and move on. It's really not worth the aggro' / time / stress etc.1 -

Well, how would you feel if when they offered you the 2 months interest-free (this is what in effect I was offered on the 21st of March) they have then had gone back on their offer and charged you interest?Marcio45 said:Getting a little confused. All this stress because of a £35 interest charge? You can at any time change the monthly payment to the minimum payment (2.25% or interest charge plus 1% of the balance). You dont refer what is your interest rate but on 2.2k your minimum payment would not exceed £65. And you had agreed to pay the minimum anyway. If you had no interest charge your minimum payment would probably be around £45 anyway. I dont think this is worth all the stress.
You have made a complaint, let it run. Do be fair, as others said, this is all new territory for the banks. And now they are actually allowing payment holidays, although you still get charged interest.
In my own experience Barclaycard is one of the best around. Not many months ago i contacted to discuss interest rates and they offered 2 months interest free. They had no obligation to do so.0 -
Don't bank on the call recording still being there. Given the number of calls being taken at the moment. The timescale for them being overwritten is very short.
It will all be down to the notes on the system.Life in the slow lane1 -

It's a good idea, might get the card. But I also get my money back too. It was a verbal agreement.sleepyjones said:See if you can get a balance transfer card, then 0 interest until (hopefully) you're back working again / you get assistance from the government?

As for the assistance from the government, might be happening in June, I am not holding my breath...
As for the time? I have plenty of that but I am very busy fixing my house.0 -
