What small DFW things will you do w/c 13th April?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😁

Morning all 😀
well a downturn in the weather today after a storm yesterday and it's significantly chillier than the low 20s of the last few days. Sun still trying to peak through though so it feels spring like. My list today:
portion some burgers and freeze
left over roast in bubble and squeak
see if I can get a load of washing on to the line, if weather doesn't allow will leave until tomorrow
cast on a new project
calculate material needed for another project
small bit of housework
have a good day all. Purps.6 -

Thanks for starting us off Purps
No storm here, and no rain at all. Bitingly cold wind today, though bright enough. So far I have: Fed dog and the birds, filled up the birdbath as they seem to have completely emptied it. Must have missed all the splashing
Cleaned bathroom and washed the floor (I have black and white tiles which show every speck of dust);Put away some clothes, both laundered stuff from the airing cupboard and my best winter coat and OH's suit that have been placed in their protective bag things and hung in the wardrobe.Put away some other stuff upstairs, toys mainly. Now grandchildren aren't coming round there is no need for them downstairs
Folded yesterday's clean washing (bed linen) ready to put away in the chestWatered seedlings and some items in the garden which needed it. It is very dry here, after all the rain we had earlier in the year.Lunch was celery soup from the freezerStill to do: Bake somethingPay milkman onlineSow some basil seedsPut shopping away when it arrives later (a rather sparse order from Iceland with many items unavailable it seems). Still, at least I won't have to send OH to the supermarket.Make a rice pudding as there is lots of milk. For some reason we haven't finished last week's yet, and the milkman came again this morning.Dinner will be burgers in buns with a big saladFind a nice spinach recipe for tomorrow, as I see there is lots ready in the garden

Evening all and thank you for this weeks thread @PurpleFairy26, I too couldn't have told you what day it was just like @Baileys_Babe
@DawnW , I have the opposite problem with milk, it never lasts long here!
@ziggy2407 Your baking sounds lovely! I'm trying to lose weight and everyone I speak to seems to tell me all the lovely things they've been baking and its making me hungry
@ditty1234 NO CHEESE!!!! That would count as a major crisis in this house too!
Hoping that our missing regulars are doing ok too
Today's been quite nice, we didn't have a storm or rain yesterday but the temp has dropped quite a lot and it jumpers were needed for our daily exercise walk.
In the way of small things
* we had the 2nd half of a cooked breakfast from Saturday (we'd normally cook and eat the pack of sausages between us in one meal but we planned on halving it for two days) added an extra egg each and the end of a tin of tomatoes and the mushrooms from the veg box.
* Made a big pile of mash for tonights chicken dinner (and plenty of mash to go with the end of yesterdays beef casserole tomorrow!)
* Free exercise, a dvd, pe with Joe with the kids and a walk around the block.
* checked fruit bowl to make sure nothing was going to waste - froze a part punnet of grapes, they weren't very sweet which is the only reason that they didn't go in one sitting with the kids!
* A little bit of mending done, less then 5 minutes work and 3 garments fixed!
* Film night with hubby tonight from our stash
Thats about it for today, hope you've all had a lovely day.

Morning folks. Like ziggy were missing lots of regulars, hope you're all ok.Was awake for a period during the night so think I might treat myself and go back to bed for an hour after breakfast. Few other things to achieve:
put a load of washing on when I got up, will peg out. Another load is in which will also go out
put some stuff in the loft and get something down
vacuum downstairs
knit - see if I can do the complex pattern I cast on yesterday or may cast on some socks for when I want to concentrate less
something out of freezer for tea
blanch some bread beans and freeze
make a cake or biscuits
research (I.e.) g00gle if I can use caster sugar to make lemon curd. Have lots and they sent me another bag on my shopping instead of granulated
check jar count for ^^
water seedlings
have a good day all. Purps.4 -
Afternoon all
I was feeling low yesterday and didn't get much done
but was determined to start off on a better foot this morning!Walked dog before 6am. In theory I am not supposed to go out at all due to a health condition, but can't see a problem when there is nobody else about, and it makes me feel better to get a bit of exercise.Did some ironing after breakfast - not my favourite, but here were only a few items, and it is out of the way nowOrdered some fruit and yogurt from the milkman for ThursdayManaged to get some flour delivered from a local-ish pub that has started a farm shop type thing as they can't be a pub at the moment. Not cheap, as it is from a small artisan mill, but not ridiculously expensive like some I have come across, and better than no flour. And it is supporting a local business. No bread flour atm, but will check their web site again. I actually still have a couple of bags of bread flour from before all this all started, but was getting very low on 'ordinary' (I use self raising for everything else). All these deliveries have really pushed up my household spending for this month - but even the supermarket prices seem higher. My Iceland delivery the other day was way more than usual, especially since a lot of it wasn't there. I guess prices will rise given the circumstances. Feeling for people on reduced / no incomes at the moment
Watered front garden pots. I have irises coming out at the moment, and they are so pretty
Watered the seedlings in the greenhouse. Too cold for gardening today, it is sunny but there is a really cold wind. It is supposed to be warmer tomorrow though, so will make an effort to get out there and do a bit tomorrow. It always makes me feel better!Ordered something online for OH, and asked DS to get him some beer when he goes to the supermarket tomorrow. Then hoping for no more shopping for a while!Lunch was burgers in buns with saladMade some scones now I have flourDinner will be pesto pasta with salad (I have home grown cress and salad leaves at the moment)Hope everyone is ok, especially the regulars who aren't posting at the moment.2 -
@ziggy2407 oh yes please, I'd like a lemon cake recipe

@DawnW sounds like a productive day!
@PurpleFairy26 hope you got chance for a nap.
Afternoon all,
A day in the way of small things
* checked banking /updated spreadsheet
* washed a load on the quick 30 degree wash, hung out to dry, and put all away - no ironing needed as we are choosing what we are going to wear wisely!!
* Cleaned out the fridge ready for picking up my Mr t click and collect. Was very lucky to get the majority of what we'd asked for. Haven't shopped at mr t in such a long time and the prices are higher then I'd have paid in aldee but this will last us a fortnight minimum
* lunch was quickly made flatbread to use up the last of an OOD tub of natural yogurt, added on some tomato puree, some grated cheese and thinly sliced 1 sausage I'd not eaten on my fry up yesterday to make them all into little pizzas.
* leftovers for tea, beef stew, mash, cabbage and some peas
* water thats been run off for showers/baths has been used on the garden as its been so dry for quite some time now.
* facetimed my mum, rang my dad and text my friend to keep in touch
* played darts in the garden with ds2, he thought it was fun (I was thinking of it as a mental maths session!!
0
* free exercise with PE with JOe &the kids, an exercise dvd and DH and I will go for a walk after tea.
* share bath water - let hair dry naturally obviously!
Thats all folks, take care xxx
