Online shopping deliveries to door?

I was able to get on Tesco vulnerable customer list so get priority slots, for which we're very grateful! Have been regular Tesco customer for many years.
We've had 5. Driver brings shopping in bag-for-life bags in crates. Rings the bell, stacks the crates near front door, steps back & removes crates when we've emptied them. Drivers are always cheerful & polite. Sometimes items are not available, but most substitutions have been reasonable. Occasionally there are rather short use by dates items, but, for the convenience & safety factor, I can live with that.
Only 1 complaint so far. I finally managed to get 2 packs of chicken thighs after several failed attempts & no substitution. One pack was off, despite being opened before use by date. Tesco refunded, without question.

Supermarkets are using up (from what I hear) their old stocks of bags, when they run out they have to provide bag-less. Fair enough.0

I had a Sainsburys delivery yesterday evening. no bags. all food left loose on my doormat and path for me to pick up. the doormat and path must have had hundreds of people walk oon and wipe their feet on. As a registered blind 76 year old i found retrieving my food quite a challengs......san't use Sainsburys again.

@Lanzarote1938 wow your story sounds unbelieveable, can't imagine any delivery driver would do this - what did they say the reason was when they knocked on your door?
Morrisons, my most recent delivery came bagless in crates, because its from the local store and they had run out of bags (every other recent delivery has come as bagged in crates for me to lift out.
ASDA delivered bagless in crates
Iceland delivered in bags

What did they say when you contacted them about this failure?0 -
I spoke to a very pleasant ma in customer service. He contacted the branch and said I would be hearing from them. He called back a few hours later and was disappointed to learn that no ne had contacted me. I doubt they will...and if they do i know exactly what excuse they will use. It will be beause of'the present situation;0

Wow, that's terrible service. Surely they could have left the shopping in crates for you to pick up from?1

Amazon Pantry ends at the end of June, no idea why. I would have thought that they would have sales through the roof. The first order was dropped in the middle of the road, leaving broken glass. The second order came in a big box and I could barely get it through the front door.

One option is to have some bags ready, when the delivery guy comes and is going to leave your items on the steps, ask him if he has bags - if not, give him yours to put the items in.0
