No fan on Nationwide recent antics but to be fair those that took out the higher rates on Triple Access (up to 1% I believe), they will be getting that at the moment. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts (they have to give a minimum of 14 days notice).1

You get a year from opening date so if you took out the 1%rate you will get 12 months at that rate0

There are different current interest rates, ranging from 0.25% to 1%, depending on when you first opened a Triple Access Saver. See https://www.nationwide.co.uk/support/support-articles/rates-fees-charges/view-savings-ratesHowever, many of them have had the rates cut after less than 12 months. E.g. the oldest group, accounts opened on 12 Dec 2019 or earlier, originally paid 1.21% but is now down to 0.4%.

(heavens! i still cannot believe how irritated i am with them still more than a month later!! -- maybe by next year perhaps i will have calmed down! -- ok, deep breaths now, count from 1 to 10, slowly!! -- turn all this aggravation into a positive learning experience! --- hah!)0 -
How to get Proof of Insurance
I and many others on MSE (I believe) ) have a Nationwide travel insurance as part of nationwide flexible account.
In the past Nationwide issued a certificate annually as proof that you were insured, but since about two years ago they stop doing that. This has created many problems as Insurance certificate is needed in many cases not just when you want to claim your money back from Nationwide.
For instance, for Visa application, visa on arrival etc. Even for a visa waiver country in many cases they will still ask you proof of travel insurance and proof of funding (enough money) on the arrival gate.
In Ukraine for instance British Citizen passport holders can enter Ukraine without a visa for visits of up to 90 days but they might still ask you proof of insurance. You could not just show to the immigration and border officer your insurance number and ask them to call your insurance provider like you normally will do when you need to be hospitalised or visit the hospital/doctors overseas. Do that and they will send you back home on the next flight. When traveling a long distance you do not want to take your chance.
I have tried to ask Nationwide about proof of insurance but they keep saying they do not issue the travel certificate any more. I actually fail to understand the reason behind it as issuing an electronic certificate will cost them nothing.I wonder how to get the insurance certificate from Nationwide. Or it will be grateful If have experience other similar experience from other insurance companie on how to handle the situation like this that you could share??

However, I understand your concern at not having an updated policy and await further responses with interest.0 -

I have had to make a couple of claims recently due to holiday cancellations and they only ask for your policy number. That however is confusing as policy numbers would appear to be generic. My mates policy number is the same as mine! I also quote my account number in correspondence although there would appear to be no actual request for this.
However, I understand your concern at not having an updated policy and await further responses with interest. We know well you do not need any proof if you are dealing with the party who is hoilding your information, as they have database where they could easily check it. In the hospital, doctor they need your insurance money so they are willing to take the hassle to call your insurance providers. But as my previous post, for instance you apply for a VISA in embassy, visa on arrival or even for visa waiver countries in many cases they miight still ask you proof of travel insurance and proof of funding (enough money) on the arrival gate. You could not just show to the immigration and border officer your insurance number and ask them to call your insurance provider to confrim that you are insured. Do that and they will send you back home on the next flight. When you buy home insurance, or other travel insurance you always get some documents with your name and sometimes DOB on it as evidence you could use as a proof that you have insurance. I fail to understand the reason behind NW refusing to issue an electronic certificate,as doing this will cost them nothing.0 -
Isn't there a policy document sent through the post each year?
Not that it helps for a trip to Ukraine as it doesn't provide Covid cover to non-green list countries0 -

Until two years ago they still sent you the Insurance certificate and Policy booklet but they stop doing that.If you call them they just give you your insurance number and tell you that is the number you need when making a claim. Quite fishy tbh as It costs them nothing to issue insurance certificate.Your NW travel insurance valid for one year so whether is on-green list countries or not is irrelevant as that list will change wihtin one year. Also you might need it later next year to travel to the EU countries.0 -
adindas, do you think perhaps NW are trying to reduce their cost of providing this legacy customer benefit (no longer available to new applicants), by indirectly discouraging claims? If they don't send you a certificate, then maybe for peace of mind some customers will buy a separate travel insurance policy and rely on that instead. I can't help feeling cynical about NW's motives here.0
