Full shelf of bread flour in Lidl this morning, nothing in Tesco or Asda apart from the 60p/kilo bakery bags, Aldi had 16kg bags.  Ebay yeast arrived. Might have to give away my emergency sliced loaf in the freezer. :)

Typical.  After spending £8 on a big pack of yeast Asda had the £1 tins of Allinson's on the shelf today <insert expletive here>

The first post on the subject of flour was on 7 April.  It's now 23 May and I am left wondering why none of the supermarkets that deliver in my area have found some means of overcoming the shortage of suitably sized bags of flour.
I'm referring specifically to deliveries from supermarkets.  I know you can obtain it if you are able to go out and collect it from various places.  Unfortunately, it's not much help if you are unable to do so and have to rely on supermarket delivery slots.  Getting flour delivered from elsewhere is cost-prohibitive.

Indeed, online supermarket shopping rarely has flour.

Bread flour is not the same as plain flour (as depends on the fineness of the flour and also glutin levels); quality Canadian flour kicks the butt of normal supermarket bread flour too, quite a difference in taste. I like Allinsons strong white bread flour and their very strong version too; makes for tasty bread, however doesn't seem available by online shopping at the moment (pity as my stock is getting a bit low now).

I'd say if you need flour ask a locally owned bakers shop if they can sell what they use rather than just generic supermarket brands (fine for cooking but it tends to leave a bit of an after-taste if baking a bread).

I've mentioned this before but just to remind those who want bread flour and can't get to a supermarket. Lakeland has bread flour available quite regularly, usually £1.99 a bag, and £2.99 for delivery.

Yes, I'm looking for ordinary white flour.  I'm not looking to make bread and could not get to a locally owned bakers shop, even if there was one - which there  just isn't.  I've been having my shopping delivered for over a year from supermarkets because I'm disabled and also shielding but thank you for your post.

I have read your earlier post suggesting using Lakeland.  Unfortunately, they are out of stock of ordinary plain flour and, at nearly £5.00 a bag, I'll probably not rush to buy it if it does come in again.
Thanks, anyway, JulieM for trying to help me.  I hope my answer doesn't sound ungrateful as that is not what I intended.

Debran, what about Wright's, they have flour for baking and bread making and have stock at the moment. Their delivery costs are more though, so you'd need to order a larger quantity of flour to make it worth your while. You could also check out Doves farm and Shipton Mill as they have stock available from time to time.
