I also notice that, if you sign into the ASDA online shopping website, cornflour is shown as "out of stock". It's made from corn, which isn't used predominantly in commercial baking, and it's not a ground flour. Its American name of "corn starch" is more accurate. As usual, if you don't sign in, it's shown as available. Has the person "managing demand" on the online shopping website made a revealing error?

Right place right time this morning, got some bread flour in Lidl. I noticed Tesco have some Hovis Best of Both 3.5Kg bread and roll mix - just add water - for £7 and they had a big sack of flour for around £16?.

For anyone who can't get out or who doesn't want to go trawling round shops looking for bread flour, Lakeland has some in stock quite regularly. Not the first place you would think of looking but delivery is quick and not overpriced.

Tried making ciabatta yesterday and the consistency was very rubbery and didn't have a good rise. So, the jury is out on that for the time being0

Don't normally have any problems with Lidl flour, usually one of the best. Gone for a 500g pack of yeast off Ebay for £7.99, 1.6 times the price of Allinson's tins and an awful lot more, a tin usually lasts around 6 months so will see if the family need any.

If it's the Fermipan yeast consider storing it in the freezer in an airtight container. It works a treat straight out of the freezer (in my breadmaker) and should last for a couple of years : )

I don't think it's a revealing error rather than the fact that it's only when you sign in that they know your location and therefore what particular store you will be getting any delivery from.
