I wouldn't get into any dialogue with your ex. If he texts ignore it and if he calls, say nothing and calmly put the phone down. Do keep a log of his calls in case you do need to prove harassment later down the line. If the bill is in his name it's his responsibility. If you really do owe half that's down to him to prove it. Its ridiculous to expect you to pay but refuse to say what the debt is! Even if you are liable ( which it doesn't sound like) I don't think you new partner should settle it though. The ex will just keep coming up with more bills and debts if he thinks it's an easy way to get money.

As you say he inherited the house from his parents, he probably has more "spare" money than most folk who have to pay rent or a mortgage, so I wouldn't worry about him helping you out in clearing the debts.
Hang onto him, he sounds like a lovely person and a great catch, or a "keeper" as they say!Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!0 -
He is a keeper.
I've had no more phone calls since my boyfriend rang the police.0
