Thanks
It's automatic as if we are working from home next tax year, we have to apply again.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -

"Is there any potential negative if employees do claim for tax relief on use of their homes? I seem to remember a caveat from among time ago relating to people who work from home. Something about complications should you subsequently sell the home?"
Thanks

If the room was for working from home in the day, surfing the internet and other personal stuff evenings / weekends, or a bedroom with desk in etc there's no CGT attributable.

I'm currently on the marriage tax code as my wife does not work. If I apply for this, will it mess up marriage tax code?0

I may be being daft here but I've submitted my details for the tax year ending April 2021 via the microsite and my tax code was updated the following day. I'm really struggling with the online claim for previous tax years as I've worked from home for several years but was unaware I could claim tax relief. When I get to the part where I have to enter 'Type of industry' there is a very limited number to choose from - mine isn't there so I then have to enter it manually. I'm then advised I can only claim a maximum of £60 per year. What am I doing wrong?

They are often based on the industry you work in and are nothing whatsoever to do with WFH.
A typical flat rate or fixed rate expenses might be for laundry of a uniform (with company logo on) where the employer doesn't provide laundry facilities or pay for the uniform to be laundered.
Some industries have set amounts which have been (or used to be at least) negotiated with unions hence the question about your industry.
Basically though you are completing the wrong form.1 -

Hi all,
Did a search but couldn't find an answer, for the period 2000-2012 I did on call support for my previous employer (dialling into work sorting out IT issues out of hours) , can I claim this allowance for that?
Thanks in advance for any and all help"I don't want to sound cold and un-caring, but I am those things so that's the way it comes out" - Bill Hicks0
