CEL COURT HEARING NOW BEING HEARD OVER TELEPHONE DUE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC.

Just had notification from the court that my CEL hearing will now be heard over the telephone due to the Covid 19 outbreak.
I was relying on a lay rep being present at the hearing to represent me.
Has anybody any experience with telephone hearings - any advice welcome.

That may well, in the fullness of time be a matter for the Supreme Court. Ssome of this rushed legislation is on very insubstantial ground imo. P***ing off lowly County Court civil servants is no big deal, they are not exactly Treasury or Foreign Office materialYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

On the letter you got, it should have said you can object to this as it was made without your presence.
Did you do so in the requisite timescales? Yes or No
Your lay rep can obviously be in the same call. If physically not there, skype ...1 -
NO, the letter just stated the time of the telephone hearing and asked me to provide a telephone number for which i can be contacted on for the hearing. There is no option on the letter for me to object to a telephone hearing.

So write back and object to the hearing, stating you are relying on a lay-rep and that - assuming they dont live at the same address as you - will be next to impossible to conduct over the phone.
Quiote the CPR that states you must have a face to face hearing if you request it. You can find it, thats what google is for5
