Yes, he was given some sourdough starter. We already have one that is about 6-7 years old but he has learned about different techniques and approaches on this course. Our starter is in at least 6 different houses in the village now and our small sourdough WhatsApp group quietly potters along. At least one of them comes to me for flour which makes it worthwhile buying a 25k sack periodically. It allows us to buy a premium flour without worrying about the invasion of the gribblies!
I did a really simple chicken casserole - a couple of onions, a carrot and three chicken thighs cooked long and slow in water with a veg stock jelly thrown in. Served with steamed spring greens savoy cabbage and the last of the garden courgettes it was simple and yummy. I even did a dessert of baked apples (filled with sultanas) and custard. What a treat!
I need to get the pots that held the tomatoes out of my greenhouse today (all cut down) so that there is somewhere to sit with our Son if he is able to come over for a cup of tea. His house is in the neighbouring county and in tier 2. I have got some lamb chops out of the freezer to have for supper and I'm off to make courgette soup when I have finished updating on here.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Have got a couple of single portions of butternut squash and chickpea curry out of the freezer - one was too hot and the other very mild so I'm hoping by mixing them they will be better! Will have with some basmati/wild rice mix - think this has such a good flavour compared with plain basmati.

Yesterday's lunch was leek & potato soup from the freezer with Danish style open face sandwiches on toast & today's was cream of chicken soup with cheese/onion toasties. Simple cheap & using up the bits!
Last night OH made his second ever curry from scratch - a south indian egg curry we watched being made on tv the other week. It was really fragrant & tasty, and he was very careful with the turmeric. so no stains & I didn't have to clean up after him!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! DH cooked last night - some small lamb cutlets out of the freezer with buttered peas and cabbage and a jacket potato. Simple plain food meant I felt less full than recent days but the bread mountain is still thereSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Having a stir fry for dinner tonight to make up for the indulgences that are coming up in the next few days. Hummm - just lost a post!
Let's try again...
Last night's dinner was fish pie - simple & tasty with another serving each to go into the freezer today.
The fish layer however turned a strange shade of grey as we used a purple carrot instead of a orange or white one!
We used up a 1kg of potatoes, a 500g bag of frozen fish, some languishing leeks & a purple carrot so a very MSE if strangely coloured dinner4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! @rtandon27 have you noted somewhere, on the tub or freezer list that the interesting colour is due to purple carrots, so you don't look at it sometime in the future and decide to toss it because it is a strange colour.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

That's a good idea @Baileys_Babe. It might be a bit off-putting once it's defrosted some time in the future!
