Last night's dinner was bavette steak (on sale) that came from our veg box supplier along with fresh bits from the summer veg box - boiled potatoes & green beans, red pepper, onion stir-fried in some coconut oil. No recipe for any of it - just put out the ingredients on the counter and let OH go for it!
Also 'found' a gifted bottle of dry white wine in the store cupboard - not really my thing & OH likes red so we made a sparkly cocktail with some tonic mixed in - may have to use up the 1/2 bottle in our cooking this weekend. Ideas on a postcard please! 🤩4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! Goan Prawn curry sauce recipe:
Ingredients
- 200g passata with onions and garlic
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp paprika
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tsp finely grated fresh root ginger
- 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 100ml reduced-fat coconut milk
- 1 level tbsp tamarind paste
- Method
- Put the passata, cayenne pepper, paprika, turmeric, garlic and ginger in a bowl. Add 200ml water and mix well.
- Grind the coriander and cumin seeds using a pestle and mortar, then stir into the passata mixture.Transfer to a pan set over a high heat and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 10-12 minutes.
Freeze at this point if required.
When reheating add the coconut milk and tamarind paste (I haven’t got any so will omit and add a little lime juice).
Once warmed through add raw prawns and cook until the prawns turn pink.
Serve with choice of sides.

Well I used somebody called Kate Ford's peapod and little gem soup and it is a write off thanks the the cellulose from the peapods. What a waste of ingredients. Currently trying the fourth method to remove them and half the rest of the ingredients are going too. Leaving me with green-grey tasteless sludge. Hope you all enjoy the curry as much as I do! I should warn you that it is a very mild curry so if you like a bit of heat it's not for you!

Got over my grumpiness now and saved maybe two portions of the soup which is in the fridge, looking a little unappetising. I might just put some frozen peas in it and serve with a drizzle of cream but not one I will repeat.
DH made dinner but in so doing, he elected to cook all the steaks, not just two. So now when DS comes I am a steak short so will have to do stir fry instead of grilled steaks. Or something completely different as there are two in the freezer. I don't know either (what he was thinking or what planet he resides on!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
