Yesterday's dinner for us was battered cod, tempura prawns and crinkle chips.
While I was shuffling the meat drawer in the freezer I found some salmon filets so will add to my list of things to eat during Easter week.
Tonight was meant to be chicken tikka, green veg and rice but we still have two turkey breast steaks from Sunday so will have those with steamed mixed veg and if I get my way twice baked smashed potatoes!
I'm hoping March will create some space in the freezer so we can have an April field trip to the Korean grocery in the big city!

One of the reasons why I want to really work on getting our freezers cleared down is so we can order a lamb again - so nice to have the various different cuts to enjoy!
Last night ended up with couscous rathe than rice as I realised at the last minute that the rice cooker was still waiting to go through the dishwasher. Equally as tasty anyway.
Found an old bottle of lime juice in one of the pull-out units that I think may have passed its best - not sure how it got forgotten, but it's oxidised a bit, and gone a bit lumpy…I did use it last night and it tasted alright, but it honestly doesn't look very appetising so might end up getting thrown out.
Liver and onion with mash and veg this evening - for whatever reason we've not had that much through this winter although it is usually a staple.

A third of a pack of smoked streaky bacon, cut into strips and in the pan with the flattened discs of sausagemeat, made the Roadkill Toad more interesting. Pre-cooking the bacon and sausagemeat for 15 minutes before flipping them and then adding the batter made sure there was lots of caramelised crunchy texture in with the dinner. I shall repeat that. Mr Sl was a fan.
I was just wanting to use up the rest of the streaky without doing pasta again (either carbonara or with broccoli and pesto) so that was us last night, with everything from stores and the gifted eggs (18 in the last week) - I might do a potato and onion frittata tonight to use some more eggs. Having two dozen I had bought it is all eggs at the moment. I am considering buying some milk and double cream and making ice-cream. Homemade vanilla custard, with a little cornflour and mixed with lightly whipped cream, I reckon I can make some without the ice-cream mixer being deployed

@Suffolk_lass Roadkill toad sounds nice, it can be a pain to get the sausage and batter to be done at the same time, looks like you've got a good solution.
If I ever have too many eggs I like to make omelettes and roll them up and freeze them, nice to cut up add to rice or Chinese style meals, and they defrost quickly. I use a little frying pan so one egg makes a small omelette and they roll up to fit in a small zip lock bag.
Good luck with the ice cream, hope it works.

Thank you for the omelette idea @moginstein - I will mention it to Mr Sl as he is the main egg consumer (and I am away for a week next week). In light of being away, and general lack of time, I have shelved the ice cream idea until I get back

It's been a while since we Reverse planned anything but the freezer is once again groaning so week after Easter we will attempt to eat from thethere! - Today was eating fresh leftovers & we did fairly well - all the bits and bobs have been mostly cleared out - OH will finish up a pastry slice and we have chicken quarters roasted and ready for dinner tomorrow & some baby veg to use up! I'm determined not to do a full shop this week if we can help it - there is plenty in the house, just have to summon the energy to think about it on work days!

Also in need of a use up what we have. The freezer was so full of "stuff" I could not find the planned option for tonight and so just removed two pieces of fish from the top. I need to have a good sort through as a starting point.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
I made fajitas the other day and there is some leftover so lunch today will be pasta with the LOs stirred through and will add some sweet chilli sauce so that they aren't too dry.

Our freezer got topped up over the weekend with various bits thanks to getting a decent Lil's £2 box and having cheap electric yesterday to deal with the contents!
A chunk of pork (T's - special offer price) got roasted yesterday, and a ham (also T's special offer) spent 4 hours in a nice hot bath (slow cooker) before venturing to the oven… I also did a tray of roast carrots and parsnips (L's box), half of which got eaten for lunch, the other half will form part of tea tomorrow night. MrEH has made two batches of rolls over the weekend - so we're sorted until the end of the week after easter. Apples and plums from the L's box have been cooked down and divided into two tubs, both frozen. A family punnet of mushrooms was chopped and roasted - half to the freezer, half to the fridge to use this week. 2 packs of 50% off crumpets were nabbed in L's too.
I now need to do a meal plan that will allow for factoring in the pork - the ham will head to the freezer as soon as I can create space!
Eased things slightly by removing a couple of pieces of salmon for tea tonight - I'll do jacket potatoes and salad with them I think.

We cleared a space at the weekend taking out a pork joint which we had with some of the Christmas veg - I think now completely finished 😆
Leftovers have made a pork Ragu for tonight and a spare portion for the freezer, Jamie O recipe and very tasty.
I picked up some 4p veg in Morrisons today and planning to use on Wednesday night when we have friends over for tea. I'm also planning Eves pudding to use some of the homegrown apples.
I will pop back in and get some more cheap veg later in the week to keep us going over Easter and also some for the freezer
