Thursday did end up being half a bag of frozen Momos between us. We brought home what was labelled as mutton and turned out to be goat, tasty but not nearly as nice as the pork or chicken varieties. The other half of the bag is in the freezer for the next time a craving hits.
Yesterday's meals involved yellow sticker deals - lunch a fancy Quiche Lorraine at 75% off and dinner we roasted two bargainous duck legs with five spice powder. We shredded one of the legs and had with simple boiled udon noodles and lightly poached Chinese lettuce. Simple flavours and really showcased the duck. The other leg will most probably be shredded and made into hoisin duck wraps - no Chinese pancakes in the house, but we do have a pack of mini tortillas which we can sub in instead. We both felt a bit under the weather so skipped our Friday night Waitflower yellow-sticker 'date night'.
Today we are both down with a head cold so it's been ginger congee and poached eggs - easy on the stomach. OH is hankering after soup for dinner & I'm craving pizza, both can be rustled up from the stores without too much effort.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Oh heck what a nightmare about your freezer Paspatur - good plan to move the offending item that caused the problem, and yes, I imagine you'll be checking it almost obsessively for a while to come!
I feel like I've made a bit of inroads into getting some stuff used over the weekend.
- the last of a bag of curly fries and a slightly broken wrap from the freezer along with fish fingers for my tea on Friday (MrEH was out)
- the last of the ham in sandwiches along with some sliced turkey (Christmas - freezer) for Saturday lunchtime
- Curry, daal and naan bread from the freezer as a tasty indian fakeaway on Sat evening
- The remaining turkey as part of a picky bits plate with salami, falafels (Nectar priced, Sainsbugs) HM bread and some olives for lunch on Sunday
- liver and bacon (freezer) with onion gravy, mash & peas last night.
This evening is going to be couscous I think - probably with halloumi and random veg (mushrooms, pepper, some slightly sad spring onions and probably a tin of mixed beans to add some interest. Tomorrow will be omelettes as that will use the remaining bacon and mushrooms, I'll probably do a baked sweet potato between us to have with them as we have a couple of huge sweet potatoes in. Thursday is currently a mystery - I'll need to come up with something quick as we might go to the pub after work.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi all, another few random sachets and store cupboard bits have been used recently including a packet of chicken noddle soup, 2 packs of savoury rice, a sachet of slow cooker pulled pork mix.
Does anyone have any good ways of using cream of tomato soup in a recipe - got loads of tins. Going to base the rest of the month around the sachets and freezer contents to try and use some bits up.Grocery Challenge 2024

@Mrs_Cheshire - Across the pond, our Tomato soup is not creamed & comes concentrated, but is often used as the base of a veggie pasta sauce, or a chicken curry. I'm sure cream of tomato soup would work in either of those as an ingredient!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I know its condensed but may be some ideas here.
I loved soup and chips when I was growing up, had to be tinned chicken though.
I often have chats with my husband about what we used to get to eat, when money was obviously tight, growing up in the 60s/70s he talks of rice pudding as a lunch. Toast and jam for breakfast and a loaf of bread and butter on the dinner table alongside the stew for dinner. With eight children/7 boys it must have been difficult.4 -
Plenty of reverse planning this week as we are off on holiday at the end of it so there isn't much fresh stuff left so have had to have a rethink. Used the last of the potatoes yesterday for roast so planning for other carbs this week. Everything will be coming from freezer/fridge/cupboards!
Was going to be LO roast pork with chips and beans tonight but unfortunately the pork joint wasn't very big so no leftovers. Dug around the freezer and have found some kebab meat so we'll have that instead of the pork! Chips are frozen ones and there's half tin of beans in the fridge so that will do.
Going to make a keema curry and rice tomorrow and then a fish pasta bake for Tuesday. Will root around for something on Wednesday and Thursday night, our last night before holiday, will be steak, onions, chips and peas.

Morning all - stir fry for us tonight using a mix of the usual veg plus some stuff I got YS'd yesterday. nabbed pak choi and cauli from the POTW as well which was handy, although the cauli will probably get used later in the week -0 I've not decided yet whether I'm going to roast it or use it in a bake.
Had an idea that I had a tub of pork chunks from a previous joint in the freezer but no sign when I came to look for it last night so I've got minced pork out instead. MrEH has requested our HM gooseberry ketchup as the base for the sauce.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi all, not much reverse planning going on here as we've been using the remaining He!!ofresh meals up. Some interesting tasting meals that we'll add to our regular meal choices. I'll adapt some of them though. I found the red wine taste in the ragu too strong whereas we added less Sambal tonight than recommended but could have done with slightly more.

Only fresh food left in the house is a couple of eggs so I'm pleased about that. I'm going to whisk them up and freeze them and they can be added to a couple more when we have scrambled eggs on our return from holiday.
We will either have some fish and LO chippie chips which have been frozen or a kebab tonight. No fish in the freezer so going to check out a new fish stall in town while we're there this morning - we both appointments this morning so need to go anyway but to be honest I'd rather not have chips again as we had them last night!3
