I know you're all going to slap me with a a stick of celery 😂 but I'm an Amazon addict at the mo, cos I simply can't get out to get stuff 🤔
No RMP for me today, as I have the soup I made yesterday, n crunchy bread for later 😋"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I'm very jealous of your waitrose slot - mine either say 'fully booked' or 'unavailable'. If I could get one I'd dump the Tesco slot... but this if the first one I've had in 2 months, so I'm going to take it. Mind you, next time I'm awake in the middle of the night I'll try to remember to check!
I've planted my strawberry plants (they arrived as plugs a few weeks ago and are now looking like actual plants) and sown lettuce in between them. I've also checked up on my broad beans - 7 of 8 are now up - and put some courgette, mangetout and french bean seeds in pots in the growhouse. I thought I had runner bean seeds somewhere, but I can't find them. Herbs seem to be doing OK, although not really enough to use. I need to sort out the basil factory at some point, but they'll have to be inside until I sort out a greenhouse.5 -
We have used Amazon sparingly until last year when we bought an old motorhome to do up - various products have been bought. I still buy certain things from them but was very much in the habit of using the local (wonderful) hardware store before I stopped going out. There are some things I use it for (flour for breadmaking for the last 8 years - always bought it in bulk from the millers). At the moment we are on a 30 day Prime trial - ha! just when there is no next day or same day deliveries! - we don't use any of the other bits because we just don't think of it or are too tired when we sit down. Like others, I am not a Tesco fan but have occasionally ordered things from them (water filters, most recently, and a mobile phone once.
We had the last of the chicken last night in a rather nice salad that used the last of the cucumber, spring onions and most of the ready-made coleslaw. As always, DH cut the lettuce into long strips I ended up wearing. Why doesn't he just tear it?? I must not moan, he prepared it, with jacket potatoes. Had the last of the cooked rhubarb with ice cream and crumbled ginger nuts - that goes well too.
We also had a lovely white wine from Morrisons - we used to buy a Vin de Pays by Paul Mas (a French maker) from Languedoc which I have been buying for 3-4 years (whenever it was on offer) since someone on the forum recommended it (edinburger) - but they seem to have stopped stocking it - DH found another one by Paul Mas - Vinus Clairette (also a Languedoc wine). It was on offer for (I think) £6.25 from £8.25 - worth the treat if you see itSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

They don’t give more than a few days at a time anyway. The Morrison’s slot I got before was for three weeks time, but the Waitrose one was only four days time.......nothing beyond that.
As you say, at the moment you just have to take what you can get. Morrison’s stuff was very limited and I had to compromise a lot, but better than nothing. I tried three of their ready veggie meals, but wasn’t a bit enthralled with those, plus the plastic containers weren’t recyclable in my area. ☹️ I’ve washed them and will reuse them to store things in, though, as they have tight-fitting lids.
I eat weird meals at funny times.... just now I had an out of date tin of baked beans (Jan 2020) mixed with the very last couple of tablespoons of the veg stirfry that I just couldn’t manage to finish yesterday, and it’s only 9am!
My motto is: if I fancies it, I eats it! 😂
I’ve also recced my tins and jars and got out any with dates up to July, to remind myself to use them. Got the rest of the out of date baked beans, bottled fruits (May), sesame and pumpkin seeds (June). I am still ploughing through the out of date prunes and figs, but as any fule kno, you can’t, or daren’t, binge eat those, however much you like them! 😱😂candygirl said:I know you're all going to slap me with a a stick of celery 😂 but I'm an Amazon addict at the mo, cos I simply can't get out to get stuff 🤔(I just lurve spiders!)

Hiya, found this thread while looking for ideas to use up my veg oxo's. Any idea's? Adding to rice to flavour but i have lots so trying to find other uses. Have managed to note down a couple of recipes so thank you all! I generally meal plan this way normally but I am not disciplined enough to do it over a long period. DH gets involved in the cooking too and can interrupt the momentum.
One of my go to meals is Chilli con carne ....BBC good food guide recipe. Adaptable when missing ingredients. Always tasty!7 -
@candygirl - It annoys me that I have to use amazon, but right now it seems to be the only place to get some stuff. Mind you, I've started trying harder recently, as some of their prices are shocking. I had to get printer cartridges for my mum the other day, and rather than being the cheapest option as they were last year, they were asking twice what currys had them at. I think now that people are seeing them as the most convenient option and going to them by default, they're not pricing so keenly. Or not keeping an eye on sellers who are chargine silly prices due to the demand spike/supply chain issues.
I need to make soup today - and given that outside is grey and damp, it seems like a sensible use of the time.7 -

If you have room in your freezer, you could make batches of different soups...onion soup, minestrone, carrot soup (!), or any soup, really.
If you have any pearl barley, you could cook that in the oxo stock as well.(I just lurve spiders!)

I’ve never thought of that. As I have a glut of potatoes, I shall try that.(I just lurve spiders!)

I’ve never thought of that. As I have a glut of potatoes, I shall try that.Except I don't eat them... I'm hoping too offload last week's before this week's arrive (I have someone coming to do some work in the garden so will try to persuade him to take them home with him). I've made green soup with ends/ribs/kale/leeks/wild garlic. Roasted carrots for carrot and ginger soup, roasted the rest of the BNS which I will probably freeze as is, and roasted 2 beetroot which I'll probably use as part of a salad with some feta this week.
Lunch was green soup with a squeeze of lemon, followed by chopped apple and yogurt.
