Reverse Meal Planning

MandM90 said:@Suffolk_lass sorry to derail but can you tell me more about your rabbit fencing? We haven't started growing here yet and the abundance of the fluffy things is putting us off!
Today for lunch I used up some dried cous cous, packet falafel mix, leftover salad from yesterday and a couple of wraps that were lurking in the freezer. Also used a jar of roasted red pepper and some walnuts to make a sauce/dip. Our cupboards are under control, as is the fridge (though some bendy celery has been whispering 'use me' for a few days) but I think I need to tackle our freezer over the next few weeks. Baby is due in 10 weeks or so, so I need to start hatching a plan for batch cooking!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Last day last day for a while for me to cook a main meal as we’re off to Cornwall tomorrow and will grab food on the drive. The planned stir fry for us tonight - did have to pop to Al’s for some pork to do with the veg but that will get split so half goes into the freezer. Also planning to batch prep some veg for the freezer - runner beans, courgette, and some of the veg box cabbage. The stir fry will see off some of each of those though plus some of the remaining, slightly sad kale. Hopefully I can minimise what has to go to compost though.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Still using up stuff from the freezer! Have got out sausages for breakfast tomorrow, chicken slices for sandwiches for lunch and a lamb and chickpea dhansak for dinner tomorrow night!
Tonight's dinner will be using salmon fillets & filo from the freezer, which are already defrosted in the fridge. This will also use up some of the leeks in the fridge.

Going to cook a roast chicken for this weekend. We finished off the neck of lamb casserole with a scone topping last night. I had a bowl of soup too - poor DH has toothacheSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Picking up a new to us freezer tonight so we can better organise and freeze leftovers from Olio etc. Will finally be able to do that freezer inventory. Suspect cats will be happy as there is a lot of fish given to me by my sister to cook up for them!
Dinner last night was courgette curry (can't remember if the recipe was posted on here or the vegan thread) with added chickpeas - was delicious and there were leftovers for tonight. Lunch will be tomato and basil soup from the freezer with salad.5 -
We had a grocery delivery yesterday so are nicely stocked up for the week!
Last night, OH made a chicken & veg stir-fry with noodles - enough left over for a meal during the week, which makes for an easy dinner one night! Breakfast today was an apple cinnamon swirl, lunch duck filled bao buns and afternoon snack raisin scones, all from the last minute deals when I amended my order on Tuesday evening! Nice easy day to end off my last week of pandemic wfh arrangements. Monday is back to daily commute into the city, so our meals will have to be simple & quick during the week.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Using up a couple of duck breasts from the freezer for dinner tonight. Will also use the runner beans which I got from my Morries Magic Bag, the last carrot from the fridge will be roasted along with one of the peppers and an onion plus of course the obligatory roast potatoes.
Lunch today is burgers, couple of cheese slices and rolls from the freezer.
Tomorrow I'll use up the box of mixed mushrooms from the same Magic Bag in a mushroom stroganoff. The cauliflower will be turned into cauliflower cheese for dinner on Tuesday.

Hi all, the meal plan is working well, I can see a small amount of space in the freezer. Just been offered some Egyptian walking onions by a neighbour, so hopefully, they'll be fine over the winter and then produce some onions to use for chutney next year.Grocery Challenge 2024

Back from our week away and we did quite well with emptying the fridge and freezer before we went - it's all full up again now though! Had sausages with mustardy lentils yesterday with mash potato - lentils were from the cupboard and the mash was the last of the current batch of home grown potatoes. Made 4 portions so one of the spares went into the freezer and the other spare will be my lunch one day this week. Also made a big batch of lentil and coconut soup for lunches this week, again using things we had in the cupboard and freezer so fridge is well stocked for me.
Dinner tonight is good old carbonara with some mushrooms leftover from our trip.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20173 -
Finally managed to inventory chest freezer and move items over to new upright freezer so plenty of space now! Just inside freezer to inventory. Got so much frozen fruit and veg it's unbelievable!
Breakfast was bagels out the freezer, lunch will be Olio sandwich and rest of lentil soup made at the weekend and dinner will be mozzarella (out of the freezer) pasta with loads of veg.
Also picked up 10 heads of celery at the weekend, processed about half for soup base (with carrot and onion) and sliced frozen celery so need to finish that job tonight.4
