I have a bowl of plain organic Couscous. Not a big fan of eating as salad etc. Any suggestions what I can add it too ? Don’t want to waste such a thoughtful gift. X4

Morning all, having chicken shawarma tonight with greek flatbreads and houmous, will do some spicy potato slices and a salad with it. A fairly cheap meal as the chicken was yellow stickered, flatbreads and houmous - free on olio, potato slices and salad are leftovers from other meals/use up odd bits in the fridge.Grocery Challenge 2024

Made a batch of mushroom soup last night that will make do for lunches for the next couple of days. Kept a few mushrooms back to make mushroom rice with tonight to go with my final batch of chicken curry from the freezer.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20176

I made leek soup and then combined the bit that would not fit in the fridge container (perfect size to fit under the shelf) with fried off chunks of chicken from the freezer to make a very poor-man's casserole as no more veg until the market on Friday. We had the last of the fresh broccoli, with savoy cabbage and frozen peas and it was lovely. I also stuffed a couple of Bramley Apples with leftover blueberries with a few sultanas and a bit of orange juice (left from Christmas) as the baking fluid/sauce - lovely with a good dollop of Greek-style yogurt!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Made too much minestrone yesterday so will be having the LOs for lunch today. Will use up some odds and ends of veg from the fridge in tonight's spag bol.

Went to get the mince from the outside freezer earlier and found a bag of previously cooked and frozen savoury mince so will use that as the base for spag bol tonight. There is far too much for just 2 portions so I will split it and put half into the fridge to use at the weekend.
The 2nd half will get used to make a chilli or maybe shepherds pie for dinner Saturday night depending on what we fancy.

I made a "small" chilli yesterday and about 2 hours in to the slow cooking in the simmer oven, in my wisdom I sprinkled red lentils and flour to act as a thickener. Three hours later I had to pour some hot water in to rehydrate it. Not so little after all and we ate two portions, and put four in the fridge.
DH is going to the market today so we will have fish of some sort today. It won't be battered with chips, but might be anything really. I quite fancy devilled mackerelSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
