Thank you for the info on the help the aged boxes - it sounds like a good system - although looks like only some areasis coming up are doing it as yet.Thinking that easter is coming up I have been having a rummage through the cupboards to see what I have that I can make for easter treats with stuff I have in.I have the ingredients for eater biscuits, hot cross buns.Did an supermarket click and collect order for my Mum (she clicked, I collected) and managed to get some mini eggs at the same time so eater nests will be made. Chocolate crispy cakes with an egg on. Shredded shredded wheat looks more twig like if you have it but I haven't got any.I did get 2 75p easter eggs so hopefully I can make some goodies and cycle over to my parents with them and the little easter eggs at the weekend.

The easiest face mask that I've seen on YouTube is one called...
How to sew a reusable face mask with filter pocket
It's by homemadeonourhomestead. It looks easy to make and has the option of putting an N95 filter in the pouch. I think that's the filter they're suggesting is the best. Otherwise if you're using it yourself you could put some folded kitchen roll in the pouch. Just remember not to touch the front when you take it off, and don't touch your face and wash your hands etc. Sorry I don't know how to do a link on my kindle! HTH and take care.

basketcase saidMy mother used to make what I think must have been a wartime recipe. You could get a version in the shops, but she made her own. It was called tobacco - very unPC, I know. Dead simple, provided you don't mind not having any actual measurements! I used to love the sweet tobacco. There was another sweet made from flakes or very thin slices of coconut and covered with pink or white sugar that I liked too. My favourite is still the pink and white almond nougat-not the wrapped bars but the softer chunks that they sell in some traditional sweet shops.

Hello all. I feel rather late to the party, even though the thread is a little more than a week old! I am not caught up yet, but will do over the Easter weekend. There were YT bags in my local A$da jinny if that is any help. What a great idea for a thread basketcase. I agree with a few early comments about OS being not dissimilar to the current measures needed. I have just this morning mended a pair of trousers. Mainly because it was simple, rather than not being able to get out and buy new ones. I also had quite a bit in stock here due to general planning/prepping, so I am now not short of anything other than fresh food but I am lucky we have a greengrocer a couple of minutes away. Mainly combining outdoor exercise with picking up fresh food. I have a milkman deliver milk, bread and eggs currently. I haven't seen my parents for about 6 weeks, but we speak several times a week and they are very self sufficient ( I had to have learnt it from somewhere!). They both have significant health problems, so self isolated weeks before they had to ( very wise, I had the virus almost a month ago, move to lockdown UK was about 4 weeks too late). I don't use expensive cleaning products, I have 5L of white vinegar, lemons, bleach and stardrops ( the original concentrated one - I don't think you can easily get it now). I am self employed so lost about 75% of my work as soon as schools were closed ( and the week before that I was ill so hadn't worked!). Luckily I have some cash set aside, so am now trying to enjoy the space in my schedule at what is normally my busiest time of the year. I am preparing material for next academic year, and planting veg and fruit in my outside space. I am very grateful to have a small piece of outdoor space, especially with the lovely weather recently. Hope you are coping with the washing jinny, I shall go back to page 2 and start reading from there. Have lovely, safe weekends all.

in the US we were (are) having problems with people thinking the stay at home doesn't apply to them. It's just ridiculous. And folks are just DYING to get back to 'normal'-ie, Disneyworld, ocean cruises, festivals. They don't seem to understand this is just a first wave and there will be an inevitable second once people go out and mingle again.
I don't mind staying at home...it's all we do in Maine in the winter anyway!

Is there still snow in Maine at the moment? You mentioned it’s winter there. 😁(I just lurve spiders!)

Thank you i wasnt making masks for NHS they cant use them.
i was wanting to make the scrubs/gowns they wear but the fabric has to be washable at 60-70 degrees. On line Fabric stores are out of it. Bed sheets would do but mine are only 40° wash. Oh well the thought was there.😑”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
