Apropos my above post......I've just opened an e-mail from Tesco saying that they have no slots for online orders delivery or click/collect for several weeks and asking people to shop in person if they possibly can.

If your friend is already going shopping, then asking her for some additional bits and pieces is fine. But if she's of the same age as you then she shouldn't be going either. Our volunteers are generally picking things up when doing their own shopping - something which is much easier now supply chains are adapting (and demand due to stockpiling has reduced) and the supermarkets aren't rationing items anymore.
Having said that, I'm only asking for odds bits and pieces (including my prescriptions), as I don't feel I can ask anyone to do my normal shop! Thankfully the milkman and my veg box are managing to get some vital supplies through, so I'm not yet likely to get scurvy!5 -

I do know that they say on their website that they aren’t taking new customers, due to being overwhelmed, and having other problems, but if that changes, I’ll post it on here.(I just lurve spiders!)

I have also sliced and dried the latest apples instalment!
Now I have a surfeit of carrots and am looking for a dessert recipe to use them up. ( Not cake, though).
Can you caramelise carrots?
Something creamy would be nice too........I have milk and I have a tub of creme fraiche (but no eggs or cream).
Any ideas?

I have loads of carrots too - they're lovely and sweet, so I'm mostly eating them raw either on their own or in coleslaw but keep thinking I'm going to roast them with ginger and turmeric and turn them into soup. However, if you want something sweet, try this: https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/carrot-halwa-recipe-gajar-ka-halwa-recipe/
I'm eating the pears with cream and cinnamon. I've got creme fraiche too, but as that lasts forever I'm keeping it for emergencies! Kiwis I think I will peel, slice and freeze as a little bit in a smoothie when I've had my dental surgery will be OK. Apples will last for ages, and I'll have a think about the clementines - I'm supposed to be eating more, but the proportion of fruit to veg is just too high, particularly if more keeps turning up every week. Ditto the potatoes - I can eat the odd one, but not the volumes they're putting in the boxes every week. I want green stuff
I'd better do my meal plan for the next couple of days - it's a good thing the weather is nice as the lettuce won't last much longer.7 -

It will get eaten though. I need all the vitamins I can get.
(All the rest of the kale from last week got eaten on Wednesday in one massive great kale stirfry-fest! Amazing how it just all shrinks down to ‘nothing’).
I got some unexpected mushrooms, too, which was lovely, and my favourites....aubergine, courgettes and a red pepper.
I haven’t started on the pears yet. They are still very hard. I’m not too keen on Williams-type pears...I prefer Conference, but I’ll find something to do with them!
(The Prosecco isn’t cheap, but any port in a storm..😁....it’s the only way I can get any alcohol at the mo.
It is a nice one though!)(I just lurve spiders!)

Sounds like you're getting the same as me - the spring greens were much nicer than expected, once processed. They always look unappetising! I've got a bit of kale left from last week (I'm washing things and leaving them overnight in the sink, prepping them and then storing in ziplock bags in the salad drawer as they seem to keep for ages that way). I got the mushroom, aubergine and pepper, but had tomatoes rather than a courgette. I should also have had a small box - which looked like it had leeks/asparagus/onions/blueberries/bananas/courgettes etc in it, most of which I would have found more useful than what I got - and the combination would have kept me happy! Hopefully I'll get both this time.
Actually, I need to remember to include the aubergine in my meal planning...5 -
