If you have a local Age UK office they may be able to help with food parcels. Our local office has lots of different parcels from an essentials box for £10 which has milk, yogurts, cheese, ham, butter, eggs and bread. There is a fruit and veg box for £10. A one person box for £25 which has all the above plus chicken breasts, sausages, sugar, tea, coffee, pasta, biscuits, crackers, cereal etc. There is also a 2 person box for £45. These are all delivered to the persons door.6

This reminds me of when I was a child. We'd drive out to Heysham Village (in Lancashire) to a place which made and sold nettle beer. I wonder if this is a similar recipe - it looks a lot redder.

Hi - Sorry to take so long to get back. I just get about 3/4 of a mug of water and add a squirt of thick bleach. I read somewhere that it has to be thick bleach, rather than thin because it contains a surfectant which makes it more effective. I was quite surprised to read that t doesn't have to be really strong to work.needmoney saidbasketcase said:- Cut old cotton jumper into squares for more bleach 'wipes' - some temp, some to hem before use...
@basketcase , can I ask what solution you are using for your wipes please.
Hi cornishchick - that's a useful link. Yes, as I said, I was quite (pleasantly) surprised by how weak the solution can be.

Does anyone know how i would get a pattern to sew scrubs for NHS staff. You can use poly cotton sheets you need 3metres. Ive looked on line and someone has a pdf pattern available.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Not tried making nettle beer - although it has similar ingredients. Its supposed to be nice - I do have recipe in an old homebrewing book that we got from a charity shop years ago. The recipe I has does use brewing yeast as well. Found a few recipes for it on the internet. Also in season - rhubarb wine although that would take rather longer to be ready to drink but if you have a lot of rhubarb in the garden....

Can't say I'm usually a fan of rhubarb in any form at all, but I haven't actually tried rhubarb wine.I was thinking of treats last night. As I have a chocolate stash and some cornflakes I think I'll combine the two. But...My mother used to make what I think must have been a wartime recipe. You could get a version in the shops, but she made her own. It was called tobacco - very unPC, I know. Dead simple, provided you don't mind not having any actual measurements! Anyone else remember it?Tobacco RecipePut some (I did say...) dessicated coconut into a paper bagAdd a little cocoa powder to coat the coconutAdd enough sugar to sweetenShake the bag to mixA budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
