Should I pay the balance on my booked holiday in August

I have booked a family package holiday to Benidorm at the end of July this year for 10 nights at a total cost of £4,460 with Jet2 Holidays through Hays travel.
I have paid a deposit of £240 and the balance is due on April 10th.
Hearing that the government may relax rules for travel companies as far as refunding.
It may be that companies may be able to offer a voucher instead of the money (I know this is not happening at present but I have heard from a radio barrister that this may happen).
I am prepared to cancel (as I would not be able to defer this holday) and lose the deposit. However, should I just not pay the deposit and wait to see what happens or should I simply cancel.

As i say, I am quite prepared to lose the deposit but I am not prepared to pay the balance of £2,400 =/- .
What do you think I should do? I have not heard this particular question answered anywhere.
