  • A week ago I posed a rhetorical question relating to teachers, abroad, holidays etc.

No response on this site since.
Guess the answer to the question is now obvious - they are all abroad and with better things to do than post on here.

Mike, are you sure you understand rhetorical questions? Why were you expecting a reply?
  • gary83, yes.
Until September arrives the rhetorical question is academic anyway (if you read my post of 1st August fully). To be frank, I was expecting some sharp responses to be posted but it hasn't happened.  With recent developments this week and the question of quarantine for France as well as Spain and other countries I suspect many returning teachers will possibly be forced to remain at their home for 14 days.
gary83, perhaps you could educate the government in the misuse of 14 rather than 40 days re. quarantine   :-)

Mike - I'm not sure people would get their heads round 'quattuorantine' and why/how that differs from quarantine . . .
    It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
    'Wonder' - to feel curious.

Quarantine comes from the Venetian word for 40, quarantena, but means any length of time in isolation due to risk of disease. 14 would actually be quatòrdexe.
  • France in quarantine.  Gold plated excuse now to potentially avoid the first week or two of school if one has holidayed in la belle Francais and yet to return.

Don’t see how. School restarts usually first week of September. Plenty of time unless they went away just before the quarantine was announced and don’t come back until near the start of term.
The Scottish schools reopened successfully last week. There’s huge pressure to get pupils back - even the Children’s Commissioner has said so.
I’m sure the unions will pull some stunts but I think they’re on a sticky wicket there.
This farce with the exams has underlined how much young people are suffering.
