The Local Government Association also says schools please pay your exam invigilators using the budget you have already received to pay them:

Thank you so much for these 2 links - very very useful for us Invigilators to use in our arguments. I also agree with your previous comment about whether our employer values us so little - I am seriously questioning whether I would want to continue to work in a school that is causing me undue stress in not saying whether they will pay or not.

After reviewing this thread I see that some schools are offering to pay their invigilators and some aren't - I haven't sent an email as of yet, but it seems worthwhile to try given that some people have had success.
  • I am an exam invigilator at an independent school and have been for 4 years. I’m on PAYE and I received my schedule of work and accepted it for the summer season in February. Obviously this is now cancelled. Am I eligible for the furlough scheme?

I know someone who is an exam invigilator at an independent school and she has been furloughed by them -  but I believe it is up to them whether they apply for this or not - but no harm in asking them to do it

I think that if one school pays they all should, aren't they all under the Department for Education, who say they should be paid.

An independent school does not come under the DoE.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • Well at long last have had some positive news that the school I work at are paying exam invigilators for the May / June exams based on what we earnt last year, on the provisio that if there are exams in the autumn term that we work those for  nothing - so a sort of win
  • That’s great news InvigillJill. Sadly, no goods news to share from me. The school I work for will not pay because no schedule was sent out. The college will no honour payment even though work was issued and accepted. State they will be using the funds to pay permanent staff so avoiding any redundancies.

That seems so unfair stanleythesnail that some of us are being paid, some furloughed and some nothing at all - I take it then that the school if state / academy will be returning the money sent by the DoE for exam invigilators pay, back to them then!
