How do I prove I'm driving to work?

Although towpaths aren't a great route choice as it's often impossible to keep 2m from other peopleHRH_MUngo said:
So has my son's employer, but given as he cycles to work along the canal towpath, I doubt anyone will challenge him. Getting to Work an d exercise are both legitimate reasons for riding a bike😁kingfisherblue said:My son's employer has issued the staff with letters to show to the police if stopped.0 -
Yes... I noticed he had been using the roadds recently. Never gave it a thought as to why! I just assumed the towpath was too muddy!I used to be seven-day-weekend0

Theres no restriction that says only essential workers should going to work, "indeed it is important for business to carry on"HRH_MUngo said:...and if you are not an essential worker, you should not be going to work.

You said in your first post that your concern was about getting pulled over going to work, but now seem to admit that you would be lying if you say that you are going to work.renegadefm said:
Yeah true, so I'm nervous over nothing? Its just that on our local news last night police set up road blocks and were pulling everyone in on this particular road. They were alarmed at how many were breaking the lock down rules and were taking their family for days out, and had no choice but to fine them.Andy_L said:Under English law wouldn't they have to prove you weren't going to/from work (or one of the other permitted reasons). As long as you are on a reasonable home-work route how are they going to do that?
My point is I could lie and just say I'm traveling to work to fob the police off, but really could be visiting a friend or something, when that is not allowed.
Or am I over reacting, these are strange times.
If you just started to be honest you wouldn’t get yourself tied up in knots like this. Decide what you are going to do, do it, and tell the truth when asked. This is not rocket science. For a single guy in an unskilled role you seem to make your life weirdly complicated.0 -
TBH I don't think they're unclear. The confusion only arises if, like the OP, people overthink them or just don't look at what they actually say and rely on what they think they say and/or have picked up from secondary sources.Long_Gone_Silver said:
That's my understanding as well, the proviso being "work from home if you possibly can".Andy_L said:

Some people and businesses cant, and if they aren't on the list of businesses that aren't allowed to open, they carry on as normal.
TBH in my opinion, the guidance and instructions could have been made clearer0 -
But they are going to work. So it wouldnt be a lie. I have just pointed out the flaw in deeming people guilty without proof.The_Rainmaker said:
So you want someone to lie to cover your breaking of the law?donnajunkie said:I cant see many fines standing up should they be challenged. Surely the law is innocent until proven guilty so they would have to prove you didnt have good reason.and it wouldnt be difficult for you to prove innocence, you would just get your boss to say you were working.
But then again when last did you have a boss?0 -
I am hoping I get stopped and they do not believe me
Then I get the day off work

Quite. It couldn't really be much clearer.Andy_L said:
