I have booked a holiday in June with Skyes Cottages I appear to be having the same problem as everyone else. I tried calling and even tried to rearrange my booking this was not available, only option was to tick the box and cancel which would have cost me a further £1,272. I did email Skyes a week or so ago and they only replied the day before my money was due.
I do not understand why they are taking money for holiday accommodation they cannot rent out. The Welsh Government have said that they will arrest anyone who is taking unnecessary travel, I am sure the people of Wales do not want me or anyone else descending on them when it clear they are already stretched to their limits.
I am afraid Skyes Cottages have lost a lot of furture customers over their lack of empathy, I will not be handing over any money for a service they cannot deliver.

Hi @JamJam1992 will you be following up with the 2nd template letter? I received a similar reply back from Sykes.

I am a cottage owner we have had all deposit and paid holiday funds removed from our accounts so we are in minus. Cottages.com have taken money back from all owners or put us in a negative account balance. It's not the owners that have guests money.1

I had a response from my credit card company that stated “...having reviewed your dispute and the information provided, we are unable to submit a claim as there isn’t no evidence to show a full refund is due in line with the retailer’s terms and conditions.”
Therefore, it seems that what Sykes is offering is a reasonable offer. My only worry is if they went bust. Took me a while to get the part refund. I will ultimately rebook with them next year when I know it’s safe to do so.

Was it a Chargeback or S75?

I love the way people post and never come back to reply @Life__Goes__OnEx forum ambassador

Someone bothers to register, post a question then never returns!
Also I find what is a pity, is how few poster return with with updated info, as this so helpful knowing what works.
My personal view is it something works, they are less likely to return, but if it doesn't, then they come back asking what to do next.

The date of my holiday passed a couple of weeks ago. I tried from the middle of march to get answers from them. All you get is a template reply which is obviously a pre-written reply. I only paid the £20 deposit.
I have said I am more than happy to pay the remaining £154 that I owe them, as the balance of the deposit, but I want to go somewhere else next year, not the same venue. No positive answer about that question either other than "this offer only applies to this property". Government guidelines obviously stopped me from going, and without a decent reply there was no way I was handing over any more money, especially when it was quoted that " could negotiate a partial refund with the owner of the property"
Now they are accusing me of cancelling (once again in template form), which I have NOT. They quoted as having contacted me several times in the last 2 weeks, Which they have not. It appears I have 7 days to pay the balance, or legal action will be taken to recover the money. Its not convenient for me to go to the same destination next year, beside the fact that they have increased the cost by £110 . Not a bad inflation rate.
I also read in previous posts that the cottage owners have had money removed from their accounts due to cancelled bookings. So Sykes are on a win win job there.
Would be interested to read your comments, experiences on this matter. I will publish future posts on how things are progressing.
The big problem is that you do not get to talk to anyone, just an automated reply with someones electronic signature on it.
Sykes have only incurred admin costs and thats all. I have a business to run myself and have been hit hard by Corona, loosing around 90% of my monthly income overnight. I dont see why these people should get money for nothing.0 -

And with the greatest of respect let’s not criticise each other for not being being logged in as much as you would like. I hope my answer helps you with your claim.0
