Don't the majority of travel insurance policies cover you if there is an UK government advisory in place not to travel to the destination in question? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
No it seems insurers are insisting all claims in the case of package holidays go to the organiser, not the insurer0

If a person selects flights & hotel and makes one payment, it should be classed as "Package Travel", and you should just have one contract with the TA.
What LH has doing in some cases , is a person selects flights & hotel and makes one payment, but unbeknown to that person LH are splitting that payment in two, so LH takes payment for the flights, then sends the payment details to the hotel, and the hotel also takes a payment, So a person has two contracts, one with LH and one with the hotel.
LH should not be doing this, it should be making a person enter their payment details twice once for the flights & again for the hotel.
EDIT INFO corrected, as misread the rules.
What LH have done is mis-sold a package holiday and turned it into a linked travel arrangement.
EDIT

I have a holiday booked due to fly out on 13 July 202. Going with Ryanair and back with Easy Jet. Easy Jet have already emailed to offer me a credit note however i have had nothing from anyone else. Surely this should be coming from Loveholidays, My holiday is also noted as being "non-refundable" surely under the circumstances i should be entitled to a refund; if I am not able to travel?

Under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements 2018 a single contract is a "Package Travel", a multi contract is "linked travel arrangement"
regrettably, this is legally incorrect. Both are package holidays and the organiser is equally liable to refund the full cost of the holiday. The difference between single and multi-contract packages relates to the liability for the services provided, such as the quality aspects as you have to take complaints up directly with the individual suppliers in multi-contract packages as the organiser has no liability, except for the money paid.
As a general rule, there is no ATOL protection for linked travel arrangements which are an entirely different type of sale. If you have a Certificate with the word package on it, it makes no difference which type it is as regards your right to a refund when it is cancelled.1 -

If a TA agent has split payment, who should refund the customer? Should the TA refund both payments within 14 days, or is it the payees of the payments?
