Stop stockpiling

It’s good that key workers don’t have to worry about their kids and school but now we have to worry about getting food etc.

Supermarkets are holding OAP only openings- they need key worker only openings as well please. If we can’t eat, we cant work and then you selfish vultures will really be up the creek  (with your many hoarded paddles no doubt)

The problem is that there's a tipping point.  No matter how much you want to do the right thing and not buy more than you need or maybe just one extra - there will be a point when the stockpilers and panicbuyers have nearly emptied the shelves and it becomes rational to grab stuff when you can because you don't know if it will be there when you need it,

If we all trust each other enough to not act like idiots - the system won't break.  It can cope with a certain number of idiots but once the idiots reach critical mass; the rest of us have to start playing the same game.
Exactly this, I went to get things I needed, Bran Flakes, Milk, Bread and Cheese. But seeing the shelves almost empty of everything has a funny psychological affect on the way you shop. Seeing there was almost no dog food on the shelves made me think 'Better get a box just in case', the same with coffee, hubby does not drink tea and I only have one jar unopened so 'Better get a jar just in case' and that sort of thing does not help anyone.

Also there is a message playing over the tannoy every couple of minutes saying 'only 2 of any item per customer' (which is fair and understandable) and the number of people I heard saying 'You can have 2, better get 2' when they would probably usually only buy one.

Went to our local Aldi at 9.30 am today could not even get into the car park cars were queuing up to get in, gave up and went to Tesco at least we could get into the car park there, they were limiting people to three items of any product, followed one young lady who was grabbing three of everything she could off the shelves.

However as has been found out quickly, OAPs are simply loading their trolleys and buying for their families, or vulnerable are taking along their 'carer' to help and loading a trolley each.

Time for a change of approach. Two hand baskets and max spend of £100.

Hoarders are getting around the 3 item rule by packing their car up and immediately going back into the shop after a quick change of coat/jacket.
Seriously - all the staff at our hospital are worried about getting food rather than being able to 100% concentrate on caring for the sick.
I really hope karma bites these selfish idiots back

I went panic buying at our local Aldi last night ... bottle of wine, 6-pack of beer, bottle of milk, bag of broccoli and a bag of green beans ... I'm such a hoarder. ;)

Seriously though, this was at about 7 pm and the shelves weren't wiped out. Maybe we're just a bit more pragmatic here in my town.

I keep thinking there must be a point where everyone who's panic buying must look at the food they have and think "I have enough now" and the shelves will start to fill up but it doesn't seem to have happened yet. I really don't understand the logic behind it either because the supermarkets are never going to close and food supplies are never going to stop no matter what so what are these people doing!.

The shops in my town have been cleared . . . apart from pickled onions, of all things.

My theory is that the people buying everything on sight need the supplies to fill the freezers that they have stockpiled in the garage

I doubt very much that they are donating the extra goods to the food banks.
