Oh dear. My flights to LA with Air NZ have been cancelled and I booked them through mytrip.com🤦🏻♀️ I haven’t even tried to call them yet but after reading through their reviews I’m not hopeful. My thoughts are that we perhaps have the following options
- They are ABTA members. Not sure what that means but surely there’s some type of recourse there.
- If bought on a Credit Card (mine were) then try a chargeback.
- Finally if you have travel insurance (I do) then due to FCO no fly, you should be able to claim through them although not sure if excess will apply in which case mine is £50 per person.

Air New Zealand have recently decided to terminate early their UK flights (they had been due to terminate in October). As the flights are cancelled then I think you will find NZ will be refunding. Mytrip.com may however take part of the refund to cover their costs. These are covered in the booking terms which you would have agreed to when you purchased from them.
Unless you are flying very shortly I would suggest waiting until at least next week before trying to reach them. At least let Air New Zealand sort themselves out and the refund process and communicate that to your agent.
I fear many people who thought they were doing right by buying a cheap ticket from an overseas online agency might start to regret those decisions when faced with all the agro of trying to deal with them following a problem.0 -
Afraid they are not ABTA/ATOL. Unsure about IATA but not sure what good it is even if they are.
Airlines are just as much to blame by allowing them to book tickets with them without having SLA's and SPO's in place!CEO is: mathias.hedlund@etraveli.com
Although do not hold your breath for a reply.0 -
Shall be grateful if anyone can share an email address for someone who can help at Turkish Airlines. May help others too. Thanks.0

Turkish Airlines won't be able to help you as mytrip will own the booking and they are the airline's customer not you.
If tempted by a third party ticket seller in the future it is worth checking them out first - Air Travel forum on TripAdvisor has 8 pages of threads relating to mytrip (I suspect if you had read them first you may have booked direct with the airline instead)1 -
It is a salutatory lesson learnt.
Will not happen again.
However MyTrip.com need to be taken to task.0 -
Our family trip from the UK to Australia departing in 10 days' time has been cancelled.
Mytrip's customer service number - https://uk.mytrip.com/contact?sf=false does not work despite it stating that it is open 24/7.
I have also emailed them for a full refund but have not received replies.
My booking is with Quantas - it was on the Quantas website under manage booking a few weeks ago but when I tried again today it states that it has been cancelled. But I cannot get through to mytrip to get my refund.
Does anyone know what to do here?0 -
From the link you provided did you read the two messages in the highlighted orange boxes?
"Our contact centres in India are severely affected by the government lockdown declared recently, this restricts our ability to effectively service our customers and you might not be able to get in touch with us. Please only contact us if your departure is within the next 6 days.
We assure you that we are working 24/7 to restore our customer service as soon as possible and make it easy for you to manage your travel."and;
"We are receiving an unprecedented amount of phone calls and emails right now. If you have an active customer service request we kindly ask you not to call or email as that will only make our queues longer. We are handling all cases in the order that we receive them and we will inform you as soon as we have an update in your case. Handling times with some airlines are currently estimated at 6-8 weeks. We apologize for the situation and are doing our best to handle all cases as quickly as we can.
We therefore advise you to verify online if an airline permits any refunds or changes.
For more information regarding coronavirus please use this link.
Thank you for your understanding."I believe any business with Indian call centres are being heavily impacted by the Indian Government's new 21 day curfew. BT and TalkTalk also having issues with no/few staff able to take inbound calls.
MyTrip is a an overseas based ticket seller that didn't have the best after sales customer support service reputation even before covid19. Like many of these cheap ticket sellers, they ran operations on a shoe string with automated general processes and little or few costly humans. Those cheap tickets sadly often come with poor/cheap service. Add covid19 to the mix, a restriction on operating offices and staff resources and I expect they are overwhelmed.
I think you will just have to persevere with MyTrips - although the Qantas website will tell you the status of their flying programme.

Hi there
I am not able to post links !
https:// conversation.which .co.uk/travel-leisure/cancelled-flight-airline-refund-voucher-coronavirus/
Take out the spaces and take a look at the above.
It would be really helpful if this post ranked well in Google. Please could someone who can post links to MyTrip.com post that address as a link so that others are warned when they hopefully search for it before purchasing from them.
Did you go through to MyTrip.com through a price comparison site? If so contact them.
How did you pay for it? Credit card? Make a claim to the card company. If debit card ask the bank for a chargeback (chance it might not come through but worth considering). Travel insurance? Can you claim on that? (Good luck though as insurance companies appear now to be messing customers around).
The email address for the CEO of MyTrip's parent group is available on the internet but he does not reply.
My view is that MyTrip are deliberately not responding to customers and have switched off their phoneline.
In due course, there may be a group litigation action (class action) which could be taken out against them if legal advice was in favour of that.0
