    We were due to fly from Glasgow to Vancouver via Toronto with AirTransat on Sunday past. The flights were cancelled start of May and I received vouchers which I rejected and so like others on this thread I requested a full refund under EU 261 which has been refused. I have complained to the CAA and started the chargeback process !
    I assume if Visa apply the chargeback then the voucher will become null & void but if AirTransat dispute the chargeback and succeed, are they entitled to withdraw the voucher completely ?
    No offence but Air Transat cant dispute the charge back, they are breaking UK law in refusing a refund which you (and everyone else) are entitled to.

    if and that's a massive, massive IF they do dispute it and win, the next step is a Section 75 claim

    I highly doubt the credit card companies wants to pay you or us back when by UK law its down to Air Transat pay (by chargeback)

    I have had the majority of my money back via Chargeback, so I won't be using my vouchers anyway.

    Air Transat want you/us to claim via our Travel Insurance, again that's Air Transat ducking out of their responsibility.
    No offence taken. I'm fully aware of the legal aspects, AirTransat are blatantly ignoring the law and their responsibility. I'll post an update to my chargeback when I get it and would encourage everyone else to do the same.

    Update 14th July

    My charge back is currently pending, can take up to 8 weeks apparently.

    I have noticed that AirTransat have updated their Covid-19 faqs recently, they now state;

    "If you purchased a flight from the United Kingdom to a Canadian destination and your flight was cancelled, you may be eligible for a refund of the value of your flight segment from the UK to Canada."

    Air Canada has now started giving refunds to those customers whose flight originated in the EU and this follows on from Westjet doing refunds for those with a UK origin or destination. Now all we need is for Air Transat to follow suit.

    Hello everyone.  Just joining the group. Trying to get a refund as well from Air Transat for recently cancelled flights Brussels to Montreal return, outbound was planned for 20 July. I've exchanged a number of emails with their Customers Relations office in the last two weeks since the cancellation.  Like you I've been offered vouchers, not interested. I reside in The Netherlands,  so all of my correspondence leans heavily on EU Directive 261.  Air Transat have dug in their heels with me as well....but I continue to assert my rights under EUD 261.  QUESTION: you've mentioned "chargeback" a view times. What do you mean by this exactly?

    It means going to your credit/debit card and asking them to do a chargeback for a disputed transaction under "Services not received". Make sure you have written proof first that Air Transat has denied you a refund.

    By the way...in case it might help....I managed to get the actual name of an Air Transat customer relations manager with whom I've been exchanging correspondence.  Elnaz Meghdadi.

    I’ve completed all the info they requested but not heard a peep, that was almost 3 months ago now.  Maybe I’m being impatient though?!...
    Just an idea but have you tried twitter? How can they expect someone deceased to use a credit voucher for their cancelled flight?

    Perhaps you can tell this person that WestJet and Air Canada are now issuing refunds for those with EU flights after they have finally seen the light on their obligations by law. Ask them when they are going to follow suit before they are dragged through the courts.
