Hey guys, I'm still deciding on my budget for April - doesn't start until 25th for me - I'm now working from home for the foreseeable, set up my home office today which is usually my laptop and charger with various adaptors just for a bit of weekend working, but now I have brought my whole office home, so I have my stand up riser, my two monitors and docking station and my special pink keyboard that has lights which change colour!! As I work in IT in the IT and Telecoms industry we are classified key workers, not that that makes any difference generally speaking but it does mean that for me my job is safe which I'm very grateful for. I should be saving a decent bit on petrol (usually spend £200-£250 a month) so I'm going to try and put that aside as my car (banger) does need some work doing after it got through the MOT in Jan as well as 2 new tyres in the next few months. At least that's all not quite so urgent for now! Small positives! Yesterday I saw a female pheasant in the field next to my drive, then a male appeared and ran after her - it very amusing. I'm going back to €400 please!
March was just crazy all around, but I think that €350 is a bit skinny for us, realistically. Will start on Friday - payday!!!!11 -

@elsiepac I had to spend my petrol savings for the last couple of weeks on groceries - it's amazing how quickly things add up. I'm getting through a jar of coffee a week almost, and three times as much milk as usual, which would normally be things I wouldn't think about at work!
First big shop done, at €130 and change. Very happy that we don't have to pay creche fees this month while at home!
Two jumbo packs of nappy pants, a box of wipes and a therapeutic pack of beer for the grown ups were the highlights. We bought our easter eggs as well, as a little cheer up for everyone - we've all got cabin fever to varying degrees now.
Pack of loo roll, 2 x 3l of milk (we're getting through so much right now!), perishables, and meat for the freezer. Should be ok for a week now, and those nappies should last a little while. Should start potty training phase 2, but I just don't have the energy right now.11 -

Afternoon everyone, I hope you are all safe and well. I've upped my budget for this month to £200 mainly due to not always having access to cheaper brands or options and using more expensive local shops. I did my first shop of my April budget today. It comes in a £19 in local butcher, £4.99 at Home Bargains (loo roll, Hurrah!!) and £11 in Lidl. So a total of £34.99/£200.
I treated us to a large steak pie from the butchers and we are having this tonight along with dauphinoise potatoes, which OH is making just now. This will do us over two nights.

Thanks Elsiepac for this thread. Can you put me down for £200 again please.Came in just over budget last month so I hope to get it down a fraction in April. I'm afraid we're two old folk that have to stay in for 12 weeks. It shouldn't be too hard to do as we have several acres and quite a lot of livestock that need looking after so apart from essential animal feed deliveries, the wonderful post lady, one online food delivery it should be a welcome quiet time, not restful just quiet. Hopefully DH will be able to catch up on a few outdoor maintenance jobs that weren't possible when we had all the bad weather.
Keep safe11
