  • Is there anyway to know if my batteries are all working. I have 9.6Kw and I do have doubts the new one is working correctly. It has a different firmware Uhome and will only work as master and not slave. Have spoken with Jake who says I don’t need to balance like Pylontech but would like to know if I am discharging properly to ensure that the portal is not showing false readings when batteries are in parallel. Today this is my reading and we are on the grid
now. I don’t know if this is since a charge that happened from 1 until 2 or if this is since midnight?

5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1,  Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)

It's a fairly cold morning here (4C) and my allegedly 6.6kWh usable batteries are in the loft. They were at 80% at midnight, I've boiled the kettle once and put a load of washing on this morning. According to the web portal I've discharged 1.8kWh from the batteries and the SOC has plummeted to 16%... 🤔

Have I lost even more capacity as a result of the low temperatures (I know the datasheet minimum operating temperature is 0C) or is this just the SOC random number generator in action again? I'm only getting 1.5kW peak discharge rate from the batteries now (as is always the case below 20%SOC) so I suspect it's genuine.

4.62kWp JASolar array installed Sep 2021 facing SSW, LuxPower 3.6kW hybrid inverter, 6 x 2.4kWh Aoboet UHome LFP batteries

0C is normally quoted as the minimum charging temperature for LFP batteries. Charging them below that temperature risks permanent damage.
Discharging, though, should be safe down to -20C.
Beyond that, I don't know the specific characteristics of your system. Sorry.

I hope the UHome (and presumably Pylontech) batteries have some kind of built in temperature protection that will stop them attempting to charge if they are too cold?

My pylontech are in the garage so get pretty cold in the winter.. the only thing I have found is if they are cold they charge at a slower rate so guess there is some inbuilt protection

Another UHome specific question I'm afraid. I bit the bullet and downloaded the Aoboet app and, after having to repair one of the batteries to the WiFi, I have managed to get all three showing in the app now.

When I added each battery to the app it offered me a firmware update which I declined at the time (I think it was to v1.9.something but I could be wrong), I didn't want to mess anything up as a result of incompatibility with the LuxPower inverter for instance.

I can now see all three of my batteries are currently on firmware v1.2.8, so potentially quite out of date.

So my questions are, what firmware do other people have on their UHome batteries, has anyone successfully updated firmware (and did it make any difference) and how do you get the app to offer you the upgrade again because I can't figure that out!

Unfortunately you cannot upgrade after declining, there is no way to push an update down. I am on 1.9.x

Without this I had batteries on different firmware and they were not interacting correctly with each other.

You now need to email- Jake - info@infinityinnovations.co.uk and give him your LUX serial number and uhome battery serial numbers asking him to upgrade your batteries.

Ah... I thought I'd get another chance to request it through the app. I'll email Jake thanks.

I'm rather optimistically hoping it will improve the SOC reporting and/or usable capacity but I'm sure that's just wishful thinking 🙂

It helped mine in that the batteries were all just about matching and the batteries were lasting longer. I am questioning why mine is charging for the full 5 hours and never reaching 100% but is 99%. I wonder if there is a trickle flow near the top end

My Pylontechs rarely hit 100% when ac charging. They sit at 99% without taking any more charge even though ac charging is still enabled.
Strangely though, they reach 100% no problem when charging from pv.
I've no idea why that should be. 🤔
