I am not saying they don’t use the house when sun is off but patterns can be established.Same can go with the granny charger and looking at weather to see if it could be batteries instead.
again it would be a lot of work from OE for not much return but they could if they wanted to… I agree re honesty.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -
newbuilder said:They can also see what is going on with your pull from the grid. Electric vehicles have a pattern and so do solar users
e.g no electric during day and at night until off peak- solar and battery user
7kw in off peak EV user.
We provided a photo of my car which allowed him to remain on Go but only until the end of his fixed term.It was during that period that they changed the Ts&Cs to being the owner of an EV & only at the home location, hence moving him since to the lowest tariff they have for his situation.0 -

I note the comments about octopus.
I've been with them a few years.
They asked if I had an ev, I said yes.
No more was asked.
Around 18 months ago free chargers were installed at the end of my street, but until then I charged solely with the granny charger.
In fact I only had the zappi installed a few months ago.
I've never had any issues with octopus.
In the last year I've bought very very little expensive rate electric due to the batteries, so I would be surprised if they are monitoring usage like that.
Perhaps the algorithm will hit me next week 🤪West central Scotland

Likewise, we've been on Octopus Go about 3 years with no issues.

ive been working with octopus to make the smart meter install a reality and its taken two years, they know why I wanted the smart meter I've been so clear about it for two years so I think I may just say what was the point of finally arranging for the smart meter if I now cant use it for the purpose I asked for it !!!

@Starfrog I'm an Octopus customer and have PV and batteries, installed in March. I'm now on Agile for supply (got on the 35p rate with 21p SC the day before it went up) and Agile Outgoing for SEG.
The Outgoing rates have been good and I have built up some credit which will cover a fair bit of my winter use. Today I didn't bother filling the batteries (were still at 38%) was better to let Octopus have it at 45-60p/kWh and I can pay 35p/kWh overnight if the batteries run out.
It's a choice between a Go tariff and poor SEG rate (can't have Go and Outgoing Agile together) or SVT/Tracker/Agile tariff with the decent Outgoing Agile rates. It really comes down to how much you will have to buy from the grid.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

I could play about with that but the losses in and out have to be factored in. I've only got 4.8kWh of storage so far, so it's a lot of faff for a few pence profit.
Was much simpler to simply set battery to 0% fill today and make an extra few pence that way.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
