  • Okay good news. The myenergi CT clamp is compatible and reading really well and it is cheaper than the Lux!
Interesting to see if this makes a significant difference.. My solic / Lux seem to get confused only very rarely, I did at one time disconnect the solic as I noticed it drained my battery.. but reconnected over a year ago and just leave it alone.. haven't noticed any real issue .. doesn't meant I don't have any though LOL

Can I ask if those who have had an offset change successfully have Lux Hybrid? I have been told that the hybrid models cannot have offset changed

Think I have an issue with the Lux today.. says generation almost 30 kWh... over 7 "O" NEVER happened before LOL

The SMA inverter says about 15 kWh... much more likely with today weather

quick question about peopel that have solar and battery storage and on Octopus for electric, which tarrif is best to go on if you have a smart meter (I'm finally going to get one installed after two years of waiting) I ask as the current tariff Im on is a fixed 12 month one at Loyal Octopus at 27.94p/kWh and standing charge of 27.39/day. it runs out in March 2023. When I get a Smart meter Id like to use cheap overnight rates to charge my 12kWh battery storage if that would work out or at the very least get money back for energy I often dump back into the grid (which I get nothing for at the moment) I dont have an EV so not sure if I could use the Octopus EV rate ? which tarriff would work best for me with Octopus ? I have a Lux AC 3600 so should be able to set it to load Batteries at certain times of day/night at a cheaper rate which i then use during the higher rates. thanks in advance for help :)

Unfortunately the various EV tariffs (Go, Go Faster and Intelligent Octopus) do require an Electric vehicle to register. I am on IO & previously Octopus allowed my Father to have the Go tariff as I am a regular visitor. That tariff expired in May and he has been moved to their Economy 7 tariff which does have a lower overnight rate but nowhere near the EV tariff (21p kWh for 7 hours vs 5p for 6 hours that I have with Intelligent Octopus). I called them to query but was informed that they have tightened up  on EV tariffs and will not make an exception without an appropriate vehicle.

  • I had the same thought but when I talked to Octopus they said that they rely on peoples honesty as the terms clearly state that an EV is mandatory (any plug in vehicle so it includes PHEVs).

Apparently anyone found to be breaking the terms will be moved to their standard tariff and will stay there. That’s a risk I would not be prepared to take, hence accepting my Fathers higher rates.
  • They can also see what is going on with your pull from the grid. Electric vehicles have a pattern and so do solar users

e.g no electric during day and at night until off peak- solar and battery user

7kw in off peak EV user.

I have an EV and a battery, I think you'll find PV households use the mains when the sun's off

I don't encourage dishonesty of course but octopus EV charging would apply for a 10amp granny cable. Charging your home battery at 15A would emulate charging your car and would not be something octopus could differentiate.

Intelligent octopus is different as they interface with car or charger.
