what are the are chances of a complete loss, in a portfolio like this?
A 100% loss in VLS800 would imply that all the worlds largest companies had gone bust and that the US and UK governments who guarantee a significant amount of the 20% not in equity had ceased to exist. One can think of possible scenarios where that could happen (invasion from the planet Zog?, a new Ice Age?, a plague killing off 90% of the population?) but if it did I dont think you would put your investments on the top of your worry list.

It sounds like you are invested above your risk tolerance . Maybe you should think about VLS 60 ( 60% equities) for example.1

Slight panic??john-306 said:Yes mine was the same earlier. Slight panic ensued. Logged back in and all back to normal.
Understatement of the year for me if I logged onto the site and saw funds value zero...
With all the hacking and Internet pirates I'd probably panic and assume the worst until I could get back in!!!I don't have to run faster than the bear.....I just need to run faster than you!1 -
It was only a minute or two, hardly enough time to go off on one.

possibly, though all has been going well, and I've felt fine about it though paying more attention at this stage given the changes in the markets and the drops I've seen......really don't want to give up on this S&S isa, though it's certainly making me rethink where I put my investment.Albermarle said:It sounds like you are invested above your risk tolerance . mine was off for a good 30 mins at least, with many refreshes and logins / out - so to say I was a bit concerned.john-306 said:It was only a minute or two, hardly enough time to go off on one.

Lets not play the immigration card - the people from planet Zog are hard working, come in peace with their benign infectious diseases and all they want is the chance to build friendships and dip their toes in your coffee.Linton said:invasion from the planet Zog?

yeah, I will be honest this is a concern in itself - it seems like it may not be an isolated incident from others responses on here as well.Alz1986 said:
Practically none. But I'd be a bit concerned if a platform website failed to work properly, imagine a day when everyone wants to trade, causing pressure on the website!Bowsa said:what are the are chances of a complete loss, in a portfolio like this?0
