  • I agree with Doc_N I would happily pay a subscription to keep this excellent service going. I saved pounds every week using the price alerts alone.
  • My Supermarket has saved me hundreds over the years, so sad to see it end, will miss my 'we have a new price drop for you' emails, let's hope someone else will take on the concept.
  • "sort by unit price" was worth it's weight in gold.
I agree. No other site has this sort option

I'm sure MSE would have the power/resources to start up their own version of this concept  B)

I'm going to miss it as I'm in a fortunate position in the UK where I have the big 4, Iceland, Aldi, Lidl and Co-op within 4 miles from my home.
  • Absolutely gutted. Loved this site. Extremely useful. I'm in mourning now.
  • Aldi and lidl shopping means you don't need to check prices anymore and if you want a branded item we all go to b&m and the likes now.
  • Terrible news. The supermarkets that don't deliver good value must be celebrating!

Isn't the answer simply a subscription model?
Would you pay for it though? I used the site extensively for the few branded products I buy but never actually did a shop through the site. All it means is that I won't be buying anywhere near as much rubbish, so its probably going to work out great for my health.

It would be great if MSE came up with its own, but unless retailers can import data straight into a platform, I can see it would be resource-intensive.
