I've got a flight booking for Budapest to UK via Brussels. This is a replacement flight after the original direct flight was cancelled before Covid. Now only the 2nd leg Brussels to UK flight has been cancelled where do I stand with getting a refund for the whole journey (Buda to Brussels to UK)  I've only been advised I can apply for the element that has been cancelled.  The whole outward trip was cancelled weeks ago so I've applied for that refund with a different airline so I wasn't going to be in Budapest anyway.
When the direct flight was cancelled,  did you  take the money and rebook,   or swap flights on original booking?
I took the refund and booked with the only alternative airline offering the same route on the date I needed, even though that meant having a brief layover.

I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of others because Jet2 Customer Services are struggling to understand the purpose of a deposit.
I have broached this topic a it in here over the last few weeks.
It is my opinion you should get you deposit back as Jet2 has suffered no loss because you cancelled.
If you had paid,  all money would have been refunded.
I can't see how it can keep customer's money  for a holiday that never was.
They don't seem to be interested. This is last part of their latest/final response:

Was it booked as a single trip,   or were the two legs bought separately?

Separately, in to one city, intending a self arranged road trip out of Budapest.  Its only the Budapest to home trip via Brussels that I have a query about because the Budapest to Brussels flight is still scheduled but the Brussels to home is cancelled.  The rest of the entire trip has been cancelled now, the outgoing flight is no longer happening, the road trip has been refunded.  Its just the fact that getting home was booked as a single journey but only part 2 has been cancelled by the airline.

Getting a bit confused as stated "Separately"  when I asked "Was it booked as a single trip,   or were the two legs bought separately?   but you also stated   "getting home was booked as a single journey"

Our trip due on March 21st was cancelled on March17th, travel agent and tour company didn’t want to give a refund, just a voucher. I used chargeback for my deposit via my credit card and the balance via my bank debit card. Credit card company were brilliant, bank less so, took me 3 days to get the cc company to initiate it and a month for the bank to do it. But I now have our money back! You just have to be persistent and patient. ABTA were no use at all.

You should be getting a refund for both legs,  who did you buy them from?

I'm quite interested in the response to this.
Regardless of anybody's opinion, where does smk77 go from here?
  • If someone arrives in Spain on the 27th June and the requirement for 14 days quarantine for arrivals into the country ends on the 1st July, would they still have to quarantine beyond the 1st July as they had arrived 4 days before quarantine restrictions ended?
