• I have booked a holiday to Rome with a company that is an online travel agent which consists of flight, accommodation and transfer.  It isn’t classed as a package deal though.  Will I be entitled to a refund if the fco is stopping travel to the are I am going... even if the accommodation was booked non refundable
thank you

Do you have insurance? If the travel agency won't refund in full, you have a good case for a refund on the whole booking as you cannot travel.
Is this travel agent company ABTA bonded?
• My daughter and her husband checked in online on Saturday to fly Emirates to Australia via Dubai on Sunday afternoon. They heard at 4:20 on Sunday morning that Australia had imposed a 14 day self isolation for travellers to Australia.
They attempted to contact Emirates multiple times but had no response, even to callbacks.
They were staying with a friend who is getting married on Saturday 21st March - my daughter was to be a bridesmaid - and therefore would not be able to self-isolate!
They did not fly as self-isolation would have been most of their stay and, had they gone, they had nowhere to self-isolate.
They would happily rebook for later in the year if that is an option and have 'gold' travel insurance but cannot get a definitive answer.
They have lodged 2 complaints with Emirates.
Any thoughts and/or advice would be welcome, thank you.

Anyone else had this issue?
I have a flight to Porto with Ryanair in April. Ryanair are waiving the booking change fee. Ok. The new flights I want to book are more expensive, so I have to pay the additional fee, which I understand (even though I'm somewhat cynical about some of the prices being charged). What takes the biscuit though is that as well as the additional fee, they want me to pay the 25 Euro additional baggage charge again! My baggage is exactly the same as for the original flight. No more , no less. Rip-off or what?

Just had our Wendy Wu tour to Japan cancelled, we were due to fly Saturday and had already had 3 airline changes and a departure airport change in 3 weeks necessitating car parking changes etc. We booked via an agent so they are dealing with it but Wendy Wu wont at this stage give a refund. They want us to reschedule which we would if we genuinely had time but we already have other things planned such as a family wedding and various trip for “significant birthdays”. We do have travel insurance and paid part of it on a credit card. May just take time to get our money back!

The world is going to hell in a handcart and you talk about a 25 euro RIP OFF it beggars belief.

• Hope someone can give some advice as currently on a holiday from hell at the moment.  We flew out me, wife and 2 year old with Jet2 on an all inclusive package holiday to Tenerife on Wednesday 11th March and due to be flying back on the 25th (2 Week holiday). Unfortunately since Sunday due to the Spanish lockdown we have been confined to our Hotel
room; pool, bar and public areas of the hotel are closed. No longer all inclusive ( Can only get limited drinks/food when restaurant opens at set times). Jet2 have been in contact today and said they are flying us back on Thursday 19th March.
Therefore We have only had 3 days of a proper holiday (Thurs 12 - Sat 14th) as the rest have been confined to a hotel room (so hard to entertain a 2 yrd old) and now we are going home 6 days early.
Would we likely be able to make a claim or get some money back from Jet 2, or would it be our travel insurance (annual policy) or even credit card?
Any advice would be appreciated in this difficult time.

Got a couple of holidays coming up and need some advice

Holiday A
A week in Turkey with my girlfriend in early May. Flights, transfers and accommodation all booked via onthebeach
Currently FCO advise against all by essential travel to Turkey (and all other countries) and Turkey has banned flights.
I have an annual travel insurance policy through my work, my girlfriend just bought hers last week and it excludes COVID-19.
I assume if the flights get cancelled we should get a full refund from OTB?
If the flight doesn't get cancelled but we want to claim on the insurance sighting the FCO advice, can I claim a full refund (I paid for the trip on my credit card) given that only I am covered and my girlfriend isn't?

Holiday B
My parents have booked a cruise along with me and my sister at the end of May. The cruise starts and finishes in Rome with other Italian stops and stops Greece, Montenegro and Croatia. I'm almost certain it will be cancelled.  Mum seems to think her travel agent (Barrhead travel) won't offer a full refund and can get away with only offering future credit to an alternative holiday. Is that even allowed?

Also, mum is saying that ABTA and ATOL will stop existing when we property leave the EU on 31/12/2020. Is this true?

If a holiday is cancelled you are entitled to a refund. If the holiday is available but you decide not to travel, even if that is under FCO advice, you need to claim on insurance.

As to international travel - does flying to the Isle of Man count? We are in the over 70s and i also have a medical condition so doubt if it would be sensible to fly anywhere, once in the IOM for our intended 5 night break we may not be able to get back due to the Manx 14 day isolation requirement for visitors. Nightmare, so much buzzing around my head!
