So the ticket had expired, but presumably they have ticket data feeds from their principals machines. Was a VRM recorded on the ticket machine? Presumably so otherwise they would not be able to match to the ANPR
You can use this to point out the likelihood of the two sets of machines, ANPR and Pay machine, being synch'd is very, very low. They dont control the pay machine - theyve told you this - so how can they prove the two clocks are in synch?
It wasn't ANPR, it was a parking attendant that issued the ticket, the same one that when I arrived told me it was £6 to park overnight, he saw me go to the machine after speaking to him, meaningless I know, but what an a****hole.

I wonder if he also pocketed the £1 that hadn't registered?  Scum industry.

Might be worth considering calling him/her as a witness when it comes to hearing stage, if it gets that far.  I realise you don't know who it was but the PPC should know who was working on any particular day.  Make sure it is mentioned in defence (haven't read back to check) and at WS stage.

I wouldnt call them as a witness, as theyre hostile
I would make the facts known from your side, and if the PPC wanted to disagree they should have called the parking chump as a witness. If they choose not to, their fault, and they have no evidence to disagree with yours

You could each write witness statements to assist each others' cases at WS & evidence stage, to show that this is not a one off nor driver error.

You could also go and film yourself putting in a pound coin and seeing if it registers.  Great evidence if you could capture proof that the machine is faulty.

Mine doesn't exist anymore but I'd happily be a witness if I can help:

The solicitor has slapped on a made-up fee of £60 that they know is wrong and will show them up in court

The solicitor will say they were only following orders guv, the orders of their client, the parking company.
