So could you please give me the benefit of your expertise in this matter, and enlighten me?
So I'm not surprised you can't explain why it isn't allowed.

Neither does it help gemmalouise that you have hijacked her thread
Then I will want them to look at theiir car park cameras to confirm 2 different drivers visiting the store.
Since I have heard nothing from them perhaps they have done that already.
At least I have no worries about the cameras proving me a liar

Athena won't be using CCTV cameras, only ANPR cameras which focus on the vehicle's number plate. They are not designed to capture facial images.

This is about Lidl looking at their own cameras to see the different drivers getting out of my car.
Or in the case of the OP looking to see if she went in the store as she was encouraged to claim
They must doubt if people overstay unless going somewhere else.
How long does it take to do your shopping in Lidl.
I'm never anywhere near the time limit.
My only potential problem has been somebody else going in my car less than 2 hours before me.

Lidl are only interested in selling tins of beans, not checking CCTV recordings to see who comes in and out of their car park or who climbs in and out of drivers' seats. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. Which an ANPR system does not achieve...at all.
This poor OP, all she needs to do is get the keeper to complain to Lidl Head Office using the words I said ages back.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

"for which they need to keep their car park clear for their customers, not full of cars owned by people who have gone elsewhere."what part of ........Lots of Aldi / Lidl stores have planning permission that allows drivers to use the car park for other local amenitiesdo you not understand? Why would they check CCTV to look for some one who is parked there legally. If you want to continue this then start your own discussion ......Ralph

Gemmalouise, have you asked the council about the car park in question as already suggested? It will greatly help your case if planning approval was given for this car park which allowed motorists to visit other retail facilities in order to support the local business community.
