mothernerd - it wasn't about being at risk from them, rather they are supposed to be at risk from everyone else but they are flocking to the supermarkets in their droves, I've seen this first hand, they don't need to buy enough for a lockdown as supplies will still get through. If they feel it is ok to go out today then how is next week or the week after any different?

Hi all.
positive things:
1. nice walk to work today. (I have to be in. I am NHS but not frontline so may get redeployed which I am happy to help with if and when.)
2. buds on the trees seem to be on a roll
3. cat has to have eye drops and this morning's application was the easiest so far thankfully!

afternoon everyone
we are all working from home indefinitely. I have quite a bit to do and as my boss said we can do all the 'rainy day' stuff. We have a work 'what's app' group to keep in touch so that's nice. We are exploring technology so we can still have meetings - i'll have to get used to putting on make up again !
DD1 works in a school so her last day is tomorrow. DD2 is away at her boyfriends but she comes home on Sat - i'm picking her up so she doesn't need to use public transport. I'll be glad when they are both home. DD1 and I went for a walk yesterday and called at the local c00p - lots of empty shelves but did get some fruit.
apple - it's a great egg delivery serviceBefore that I used to get eggs delivered to the door from a local farm
Gratitudes:
able to do my job from home and still get paid
internet that keeps everyone in touch
a bright day so can get outside

Today I am grateful for dd clearing some books from her shelves for the Delight charity, for my thoughtful y11s being concerned about the y10s and will their exam results be amended next year if they have to miss several weeks/months of school, for not working on a Friday, for the bribery power of midget gems with y9s, for a warm bedto snuggle down in.

NSD 5 for me today. Only left the house to post some letters and walk the dog, both free activities, since I used free stamps from the RM Surveys for the letters. Grateful today for a long phone call with a friend, not having to brave the supermarkets (yet) and DD ringing again to see if we poor old things are ok.

Thursday- it's crazy times we live in! Have been spending so still on NSD 10/15 but that seems a bit irrelevant at the moment! Still at work, DDs last school day for who knows how long tomorrow. Am very grateful for amazing work colleagues and bosses. As my main childcare out with school are my parents, who I cannot now leave my daughter with, DD will be the youngest member of staff as long as we continue to work! We have cleared a desk for her and she can help with cleaning if she gets bored of school work. Will get some maths in action and plenty of practical science and hopefully she won't drive anyone too crazy! My workmates are taking over my "nightshifts" so I can be at home with her when she's asleep. It's times like this you discover which people are worth their weight in gold (or toilet paper). I also managed to get video calling set up for my parents so they can keep in contact with DD even though they can't be together. It's hitting them hard, but they have to stay as safe as possible.

Sorry for not posting yesterday, here is my update:
I’m hoping something good comes out of all of this, as we all march forward I hope the caring, sharing, back to basics lessons stay with us.
Mix it up - We will be using our time at home to fix things, sort things, even clear the loft. All those things we never get time to do.
Exercise - yesterday we did 1.12 miles just by walking a longer way to & from school.
R&R - not really anything here today but FaceTimed my parents and chatted with them for an hour or so they are in good spirits but still wandering around public places!!
Reduce - Behind with my decluttering but will catch up and maybe get a head at the weekend.
Ignore - Apart from the Boris daily update I’m not watching the news. Book face is a good place for local info so I am still on that.
NSD 9/15
Gratitudes - FaceTime, flexible working hours, DH cooking tea.
Charity - DS bought gingerbread to support a local Down syndrome charity. (Money was from day before spends I put in his bag on that day so hope I can keep my NSD for yesterday)

We are adapting to the whole family working from home. We have made a schedule where we only meet for food times, and spend the rest of the day doing our own thing (more or less.... dds still need my help with their school tasks). This is mainly for me to keep sane
I don't do well with people around me 24/7; husband being the only exception and one of the reasons I married him
Grateful for:- absolutely gorgeous weather, our garden and our trampoline- 6 neighbours offering help to my self-isolating parents (4 hours away from me)- the schedule working

Day 20The Japanese sent masks to the Chinese with a note saying 'We are all waves in the same ocean' (or similar, read it last week and neglected to write it down). Japanese members of parliament voted to pay for masks from their own salaries and many other groups followed suit. A Japanese youth group sent their gifts with the message "lands apart, sky shared".Chinese billionaire Jack Wu (founder of alibaba) sent masks to the Americans.Cuba (a communist country with the highest ratio of doctors to population, lowest infant mortality rate and a wonderful education system) has taken in a ship with coronovirus infected passengers (including some Uk residents) which had been barred from stopping in other places and has promised to share any coronovirus medical breakthrough (they are close) freely with the whole world (unlike Donald Trump attempting to bribe the Germans into giving the US exclusive rights to theirs)Donald Trump has beaten all comers with his pronouncement that"people are dying who've never died before".Well let's hope so -the last thing we need right now is a zombie apocalypse.Songs to get us throughLean On MeLet It BeHe Ain't Heavy (He's my brother) inpired by a statue at Boystown in AmericaBridge Over Troubled WatersPower of Love (Frankie song, not the Huey Lewis and the News one - although the theme from 'Back to the Future' might help and definitely the 3rd song in the same year with the same title)Mental Wellness ChallengePinterest isn't playing atm, so I went to the source (had to do this earlier in the week when I thought I'd accidentally deleted it) and found a new post (inspired by a query from someone in lockdown in Italy)COVID 19 - ANXIETYFor YouAvoid excessive exposure to media coverageConnect through calls, text, internetAdd extra time for daily stress reliefFocus on your Mental Health (exercise and healthy eating are part of that)For Your ChildrenReassure them that they are safeLet them talk about their worriesShare your own coping skillsCreate a routine structureFor quarantine/ isolationKeep in contact with your loved ones via social media, texts and phone callsCreate a daily self-care routineKeep yourself busy - games, movies, booksFocus on new relaxation techniqueMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8
